DallasBillsFan1 Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Is it fair to ask if Buffalo got the short end of the stick in terms of offensive scheme when compared to Chip Kelly's? Chip Kelly (sounds like they're saying Jim Kelly) has a lot more talent and experience on his team (Michael Vick, Desean Foster) than Buffalo, but their offense was faster and seemed to catch Washington off guard more than Bills caught NE off guard. Philly executed much more effectively and clearly did not have the penalties the Bills did. In short, perhaps in theory, Marrone's offense is supposed to look like what we saw ion Philly last night. Buffalo just needs more time and talent to execute better. Last night's game was fun to watch.

Kelly spreads the field far more often to create space and Vick's threat to run is key. GO BILLS!!!

dpberr Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 (edited) I wouldn't take a lot from that first game. Game tape exists now and other opposing teams won't be so stubborn in staying in their base defense when it's not working. While watching the game last night during that first half I was sure Dave Wannstedt was Washington's defensive coordinator. My bet: Chip Kelly's offense is a lot like Chan Gailey's was in that it catches teams by surprise for a couple weeks early on until it's figured out. Edited September 10, 2013 by dpberr
metzelaars_lives Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Desean Foster is really the key to Philly's success.
Captain Hindsight Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Also NE has been running a very similar offense for two years now. They practice it often
26CornerBlitz Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Also NE has been running a very similar offense for two years now. They practice it often Was about to make the very same point.
C.Biscuit97 Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Desean Foster is really the key to Philly's success. Eh, I think it's more Arien Jackson. And Philly looked really good at times. At the same time, Washington, especially RG3, looked rusty as hell. By the end of the game, Philly was holding on for dear life. Let's wait a hot second before anointing the Eagles as a revolutionary offense.

I understand the gist of what you're getting at, but Philly has superior talent as well and if they stay healthy, a BIG if BTW, they are gonna give teams fits regardless of the tape that exists for DCs. The key to Philly is their OLine. Peters looks like a new player, their #1 pick is talented, and they got good schemes as well, from what I saw last night. GO BILLS!!!

I think the talent level is very similar. Stevie Johnson isn't the burner Jackson is, but he actually has better #s I believe. The rest of their receiving core is very average and racist. And McCoy and Spiller are on very similar levels.

iinii Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 It has been said, not to make too much of week one. Before we anoint anyone or burn anyone in effigy lets play a few more games.

Let's wait a hot second before anointing the Eagles as a revolutionary offense. I was thinking the same thing. They werent doing anything crazy out of the ordinary offense wise. Just up-tempo all game, on a national stage. Hence the attention. I saw tons of ways to break the offense. That quick chop block the offense was doing for the quick passes? This was to keep the D lines hands down and so Vick could get the pass off quick. If the receivers are pressed at the line and can't get off right away, Vick is gonna get pounded every single play. How will he hold up?
26CornerBlitz Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 No he means desean foster...the great Carolina rb After researching this, I have discovered that it's actually Jodie Foster.
FluffHead Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 (edited) Michael Manuel is a perfect fit for for Kelly's offense Edited September 10, 2013 by FluffHead

But there is no overstating the importance of Jackson's speed on the outside and Vick's running ability and experience at this point. I also think Philly's line is better, too. And I like the way Kelly spread that defense out to create space. GO BILLS!!!
Bangarang Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 The Eagles only got off roughly 20 plays and put up little points in the 2nd half. Just saying. Lets not crown your messiah just yet.
BringBackFergy Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Michael Manuel is a perfect fit for for Kelly's offense Brian Kelly's offense is gimmicky...Mike Manuel will adjust nicely to Doug Maloney's team. Just be patient.
