For a little perspective, Peyton Manning tied Yelberton Abraham Tittle's single game record of 7 TD's without an Interception. Peyton achieved this in a pass-happy, 'QB wears a dress' League. Y.A. did it while getting his face punched in on every throw.

Peyton Manning is the best QB to ever play the game in my opinion, but he's definitely in the top 3-5.

By definition, almost nobody will match that. He is a once in a generation type player. Maybe once in a lifetime.

That's an unrealistic standard to use.

You need to come over to the discussion about Byrd, Ed Reed, and contract values.

Watching that makes me so sad. The possibility that EJ is ever even half that good is so low.

I think the possibility of him being "half as good" is not that low. That said, I would be completely giddy if he is as good as Roethlisberger, Flacco, Luck, Wilson, Eli, Rogers, Ryan, Brees, etc, etc.... no need to compare him to Peyton Manning.

Based on statistics.

Go ahead and figure out the percentage.

Take every QB taken, say in the past decade, and see how many are good players. The percentage is small. Very very very small.

Peyton Manning first game: 7 touchdowns

KC Chiefs entire 2012 season: 8 passing touchdowns

78% of all statistics are made up.

Before the game started my wife asked a question Manning and I pointed out the being a QB today was different than when Unitas was getting the crap kicked out of him by the likes of Deacon Jones.

Statistics appear naturally. As do people that can't count.

As do people who are humorless.

I had Peyton and D. Thomas on my fantasy team.

I could bench the rest of my team and still have a chance at winning lol

And my matchup this week was AGAINST Manning. LOL. Who do I have at QB? Scam Newton, against the Seahawk D. I'm screwed. I did have D. Thomas though in one league. Loved the mad scramble btw of fantasy owners to pick up Julius Jones on the waiver wire in the wee hours of the morning. Hilarious.

So you're that guy that says: "Championship!"

Maybe that's where we differ. I think Roethlisberger, Flacco and Wilson are about half as good as Peyton.

And the chances that Eli becomes a Roeth or Flacco is low. Stats prove that. Draft choices rarely pan out statistically.

Here ya go.

Look at all the QB's drafted, then calculate how many are good. Get the %. Then apologize.

Why are you always dogging Ej man? I'm always reading your posts on how "he did good vs 3rd stringers" or comments like the one above. We get it. I think we have all had enough of you dissing Ej.

Oh and I don't know if anyone noticed but I believe it was in the 3r quarter. Right after a commercial break, they show a cheerleader doing her little dance. The sexy thing was that the girl bent over right in front of the camera man and she showed her undies. All her undies and butt. Not just a millimeter of the underwear. Did anybody catch this? I'm not the only nasty guy. Am I?

I'm not trying to rip on him.

I'm just more realistic than others.

"78% of all statistics are made up" is a joke!

Those statistics can only tell you the percentage of quarterbacks that are successful (based on whatever your definition of successful might be) or other general statistics. They have zero predictive ability in regard to specific QBs. For example, if, by your definition, only 5% of QBs drafted since 2000 have been successful, then, intuitively, you want to say that any QB you draft has a 5% chance of being successful. It is a fallacy. There is no statistical correlation between group statistics and individual predictions. Statistically speaking, you can only say that any given QB is going to be successful or not going to be successful. Whether that QB falls into the 5% group or the 95% group depends on an almost infinite amount of variables and, while one may get a pretty good feel for whether or not any given QB may or may not be successful, it really cannot be statistically quantified.

So, I have not missed a Home Opener in 13 years. However, on this particular year, for a variety of reasons, I was not planning on going to Sunday's game, thus ending my streak. Then the last couple days happened. Two friends of mine decided that they needed to be at the Ralph and asked me to join. And just like a recovering crack addict with a pipe being waved in front of their face, I immediately caved. And probably just like that crack addict, I feel absolutely tremendous about my decision. Can't wait to help you all rock the stadium on Sunday afternoon! GO BILLS!!!!!!
