boyst Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 It is amazing how much we take for granted what is just outside of our own doors. I urge everyone just to take a look at the natural world outside of their home today.
Just Jack Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 It is amazing how much we take for granted what is just outside of our own doors. I urge everyone just to take a look at the natural world outside of their home today. I was going to say something similar. I love getting up into the Adirondacks. I've found most people when you say Adirondacks, they only know Old Forge and Lake Placid. But there's so much more, not just scenery, but history. To stand on top of a mountain, and find the original survey bolt the Verplank Colvin put in back in the 1880's is just remarkable. Or to stand in the same boarding house that Teddy Roosevelt stayed at when he found out McKinley was shot. (and what's remarkable about that, is unless you research it, you may not find it. It's a somewhat abandoned building down a dirt road, that usually only people hiking in the area would find. No roadside marker denoting the history that happened there.)
DC Tom Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 I object to #4. I don't think it's fair to refer to Gugny as "wildlife".

GT350 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Very cool! That is why I love to hunt. I love being out in nature as the day begins and the sun sets.
Just Jack Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Rock Pond panaromic I took last in in the foothills of the Adirondacks.
