TPS Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Eagles released a former R1 pick at Guard, Watkins. Don't know much about him--worth It?http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000236957/article/danny-watkins-will-be-released-by-philadelphia-eagles
Big Turk Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Just so people know, we can't just "sign" any player being cut. If we want them we have to put in a waiver claim, and we have 8th priority in same order as draft, so if any team ahead of us puts a claim in they are awarded the player. Once they clear waivers, then they can be signed by any team
Hapless Bills Fan Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 any half way decent corner would be a plus at this point. Agreed. I suspect the Turk isn't finished with the Bills. I also suspect from his post-game comments and from some of the surprise cuts, Marrone is sending a message "maximum effort at all times or you're outta here". I look for us to be searching the NFL scrap heap for corners and safeties, possibly a OL guard or two, and the scissors will snip on.

Once they clear waivers, then they can be signed by any team Clarification, they would have to wait their turn in the waiver order for a player with less than four years of experience in the NFL. A vested veteran would be a free agent as soon as he got cut, and free to sign with anyone.

JimBob2232 Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Skeleton is released. Oh man. If that really happens...what will this board do?
BADOLBILZ Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Eagles released a former R1 pick at Guard, Watkins. Don't know much about him--worth It?http://www.nfl.com/n...adelphia-eagles No thanks, we already have a center who we know is going to miss games and there are too many abandoned buildings around Buffalo. Every time one went up in flames we would all have to wonder if Watkins' was going to be available for the upcoming game.
djp14150 Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Tebow is available...... Vince Young is available.....
KeisterHollow Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 There are now Guards, CB's, and a few LB'ers available who look to be an upgrade on the back-end of our roster; in fact, there might be a few players out there who could come in and compete for starting spots at G and CB. Adding a few of the right players could make this roster quite good in eight weeks or so, when Gilmore gets back. I just hope we can integrate the CB in time for New England - as unlikely as that seems.
TPS Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Velasco from Tennessee who started 16 games last year at center. On NFL.com
26CornerBlitz Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 2013 Final NFL Cuts: Teams trim rosters down to 53 players: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/23400230/final-nfl-cuts-teams-trim-rosters-down-to-53-players Current list of released players that will certainly be in flux before the season kicks off next week.
Best Player Available Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Gronk has been cut!! Well not THAT Gronk but his brother Dan. Get er Dun!
WVUFootball29 Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Took a look a few a of the corners that were released and these are the ones I'd like to take a look at: Elbert Mack: http://www.nfl.com/player/elbertmack/2507359/profile Kevin Rutland: http://www.nfl.com/player/kevinrutland/2495335/profile Marcus Trufant: http://www.nfl.com/player/marcustrufant/2505553/profile William Middleton: http://www.nfl.com/player/williammiddleton/89760/profile Darren Woodard: http://rams.imgrelay.com/html/WoodardD_1.html Chase Minnifield: http://www.nfl.com/player/chaseminnifield/2532913/profile Mack and Rutland have some NFL experience. Trufant is getting old, but would provide some veteran presence at a weak position. Minnifield would need to be claimed off waivers, but could be a steal if he regains his U of VA form.
26CornerBlitz Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Maybe we should bring back Bruce: @SBNationGIF Hello, Bruce Smith, you are looking swole. http://bit.ly/17r69ta
Matt in KC Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Maybe we'll bring in X-Man (just doesn't sound right) Marquette King.... It looks like from preseason the kid can boom them! I don't know if he can place them at all, but at this point, 3 Preseason games in a row averaging over 50 yards / punt looks like an upgrade to me after the shanks we were treated to.... I can't believe the Raiders still have 2 punters on their roster... and 4 QBs!
#34fan Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 I wouldn't mind trying out Stanford Routt. Our secondary looks like it's going to be JUNK. ANY veteran presence should help. Offensively, the Patsoes released WR Quentin Sims from Tennessee-Martin. He's a big target. Very athletic, and sure handed... I've said repeatedly that I don't trust TJ Graham one bit... Can't understand why Hackett wouldn't want to load up on big targets for his talented rookie QB.
Trader Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 I can't believe the Raiders still have 2 punters on their roster... and 4 QBs! Washington has 4 QB's also. There must be some good players released from that roster.
machine gun kelly Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Thanks for that article on all the players cut. Rout wouldn't be bad for givign him a tryout.
CSBill Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Many have mentioned Minnifield, why does he remind of Leodis Mc.? High pick, looks like he should e good, but just doesn't get it done? Chase Minnifield: http://www.nfl.com/p...2532913/profile However, he may still be better than what we have now.
