NickelCity Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Bills receiver Marquise Goodwin also left the game in the first half with an eye injury and did not return, but is going to be okay. “Goodwin is fine,” said Marrone. “He just got a little scratch on his eye, but it wasn’t anything where he had broken blood vessels or anything.”
NickelCity Posted August 30, 2013 Author Posted August 30, 2013 Well I'm happy about it. With all these injuries I half expected ocular surgery and 6 weeks out.
Mark Vader Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Well I'm happy about it. With all these injuries I half expected ocular surgery and 6 weeks out. How typical that would have been.
Nanker Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I think it's a ploy. He's going to hold out for a bigger contract. It's all the rage these days at OBD.
Donald Duck Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Glad hes OK , but Goodwin looked pathetic on the play that got his eye poked..
MOFO Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Glad hes OK , but Goodwin looked pathetic on the play that got his eye poked.. Hard to look good when someone goes knuckle deep on your face...
4BillsintheBurgh Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I'm glad, looked like he may have hurt his shoulder or wrist/forearm the way he came down. Not the best throw, but it's a chance you take with a qb who doesn't know the system and isn't good. In fact, I was glad we didn't have any other injuries because a couple guys got hung out to dry.

Throw was good, how about not slowing down and staying on course? there was nothing wrong with the throw
Donald Duck Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 His eye? I am more worried about his stone hands. +1
maddenboy Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I was thinking concussion. He looked more woozy than concerned about his eye. Maybe that's "newspeak." "Its not his head, its his eye. That's why he looked disorient(at)ed"
mountainwampus Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 His eye? I am more worried about his stone hands. And he was running zig zags, unable to project the angle of the ball. Looks too raw to be a WR at this stage.
4BillsintheBurgh Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Throw was good, how about not slowing down and staying on course? there was nothing wrong with the throw Goodwin is not a player who you lead toward the defender, the ball needs to be thrown away from the defender. We'll just disagree on this one.
K-9 Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Goodwin is not a player who you lead toward the defender, the ball needs to be thrown away from the defender. We'll just disagree on this one. I haven't seen any of the game, let alone this play to Goodwin. What kind of route was it? GO BILLS!!!
4BillsintheBurgh Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 I haven't seen any of the game, let alone this play to Goodwin. What kind of route was it? GO BILLS!!! It was a deep throw down the right, I didn't see the full route to say if it was a go route or whatever. The ball was short to the inside and Goodwin dove toward his left to try to catch it.
BADOLBILZ Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 His eye? I am more worried about his stone hands. I gotta' admit, I had a Roscoe flashback on that play. Tiny receiver lays out for the ball, falls down, breaks his slender lady wrist...out for 6 weeks. Glad to hear he is alright because falling down is something that he needs to be able to survive at the NFL level. Small, fast guys rarely make good over-the-top threats because the further the ball is thrown downfield the statistically less likely it is to be catchable. A guy like Goodwin can catch up to an overthrown ball but when he gets there he has a very small catching radius. I think until proven otherwise, as you mentioned his hands are a concern. There are rare occasions where a small acrobatic guy like Steve Smith can have a large catch radius despite his size, but Goodwin is a straight line athlete. His game is get me the ball and let me make a straight dash for the endzone.
