Looked pretty good for someone who only had two days of practice. I think he would be a better third stringer then Kolb. Any thoughts?

Simple: Lewis is your 3rd stringer going into the season.

Cut/IR Kolb. Do it today. No reason to wait. Need I even mention Linehart? Hell, I was joking with the sheriffs on the way out of the game: "you guys wanna give Linehart a police escort to the bus station?" All of them were fully supportive of that idea. One guy said: "It's not even about his safety, we just want him out of here".

Lewis can run the O. I saw that from row 15 today. The players responded to him, hell, the whole stadium responded when he got into the game. :

Lewis will not hurt us, and, he can move the chains enough to close out a game. He can, given only 2 days of practice, run this O. His skill set is a match.

For me there's little left to discuss. It's EJ, Tuel, Lewis, in order. Done.

It will be interesting to see if Hackett's friendship means Lewis is the odd man out. Bills should PUP reserve list Kolb, cut Leinart and 3rd string Lewis for now.

That would be nuts. Lineart basically cut himself in his post game statement.

Kolb, having practiced and played in the pre-season, is ineligible for the P.U.P. list.

Agree but switch Lewis with Tuel.

I'm down with that after a few weeks. Not now. That's why I said "going into the season".

Reason: On one play, Lewis got the snap, and quickly threw to air. He had expected Brad Smith to be running forward, not standing as he was. Thankfully it happened so fast that it was INC. Body language said that was on Lewis. It's going to take Lewis a few weeks to learn the playbook.

However, again, Lewis is exactly the type of QB that can back up EJ, in terms of skill set.

He's got 10 days. that's close enough to a "few weeks" for me. If the players respond to him that's half the battle. If EJ can't play 9/8 we should start Thaddeus IMHO. Work in a few read option running plays for him too.

I can live with that. One thing about Lewis? Awesome ball fake skills. He completely fooled me on one play. That made the $15 I paid worth it by itself. I ended up watching the RB, who got tackled by 2 guys for no gain, and I'm just about to.....and then I was gonna say #@%! but...

I didn't realize that Lewis had the ball, was long gone the other way, and was running for the 1st. :bag::lol:

Read option? All day.

What did he say?

He said:

"...

you cant turn the ball over in this league and expect to win. It’s tough, but I was thankful to be here. We’ll see what happens. Obviously, after that performance, it can’t be anything good. I wouldn’t think but we’ll see.”

1 TD pass is all it takes to get this guy on? I like him but wow that was fast! Y'all have a quick trigger!

Well his run skills were good too so I guess Im on board but man times are dire right now!

Given the choice between him and Tuel Time if EJ can't play 9/8, it's an easy choice IMHO. Something tells me Thaddeus could have gotten at least 1 first down vs Washington in the 2nd half.

He's got leadership. Never underestimate that.

Ok I'm sold. Even though I think having one veteran QB on the roster should be a must for any team, I'll buy into this. With a rookie head coach and whole youth movement going on it's kinda low risk/high reward to trust in these young fellas. It will be a fun but painful year full of hope.

Someone in the national media said it (I can't recall whom), I was also thinking it, and I believe we saw it last night: The advantage of Lewis over Lienart is his athleticism and ability to move/run. They're about equal in passing ability (and neither one was that good), but with the state of this team, and the lack of time to learn the full offense, the new backup QB who can run and make things happen with his feet is more valuable than the immobile one.

It has to be Lewis.
