A team source told ESPN's Chris Mortensen that Hugh Douglas, whose post with the Eagles he re-titled "bad-ass-ador," entered the team's training room Wednesday and announced "I know there are people in here faking injuries."

One reason IR rules became so rigid over the years is that teams like the Raiders and Redskins in the 80s used it to hide young talent. Players were told to fake injuries so the team can hoard young talant. And it occasionally is still being done, but its not as prevalent.

so what were seeing is a guy giving teammates who may have been legit hurt the macho "you should suck it up" routine, and teams hiding talent on injured lists.... along with players on field faking to stop a hurry up offense for a moment.

still, none of which is relevant.

The Bills used to do that. The 49ers filed a complaint with The League against The Bills because they coveted a couple of DBs we had stashed on IR. I don't think much came of it, but a lot of stuff has flown around over the years. The rules are there for a reason - and folks never get tired of trying to circumvent them.

I can see why Byrd is so bitter...he could have chosen to rest last year to prevent worsening of the condition but chose to play, whether for money because he was a good soldier, etc and wanted to be rewarded and the Bills basically told him "We appreciate that but we want to see how this plays out first".

I don't see how there is any repairing this relationship right now. Both sides feel they are right and both sides have valid points

LAst year, if in your words, chose to rest instead of play, how does he justify big $$$ this year then?

Yeah, if he rested last year, he doesn't get the big money contract. And if it's still an issue after being an issue last season, the Bills giving him a huge contract would have been stupid on their part.

If Byrd wants to be bitter, he should curse his bad luck/foot and Parker for not agreeing to what the Bills offered. If the foot is still an issue this year, teams won't be lining up to give him huge dollars.
