I think when he is ready to be activated buffalo will likely put Gilmore( or another injured player) on the in season IR with the plan to activate him after 6 weeks. He's already practiced so no pup. The ir with return designation is 8 weeks so marrone has said he is going to pass on that because he shouldn't be out that long. He can't get on PUP....he was injured in the preseason....instead he can get on in season IR which has a similar timeline as the PUP ...on it for minimum of 6 weeks then a roster exemption to have them practice before activation.
