Nanker
Spent last week at Sixth Lake. Went on hikes to Cascade Lake and falls, and Mitchell's Pond in the Moose River Wilderness. Didn't see a single homeless person. Oh the humanity.
ExiledInIllinois
I like bike-n-hike trails. I betcha there is some nice camping there. Maybe they can trap and relocate GBiD's bothersome campers. ;-)
TakeYouToTasker
The homeless is an issue that really bothers me. Public space is for public use, and the law states that this use is not only for use for those who pay taxes; and not having access to a private dwelling, either by choice or circumstance, shouldn't be a crime. No, parks are for people's recreation not to be used as refugee camps. They can go to the homeless shelter and sit in front of a bank or something

I agree. Did I just say that? ;-P BUT, I suppose they can draw the line when say public sanitary/health issues arise. TakeYouToTasker
No, parks are for people's recreation not to be used as refugee camps. They can go to the homeless shelter and sit in front of a bank or something Parks are for public use. Homeless shelters have limited capacity, and in poor economic conditions like the ones we're currently living in, are turning people away. Sidewalks, outside of banks (spare me the Occupy rhetoric) or otherwise, are also for public use, and and those choosing to sleep on them are also escorted away by police. Private property owned by a bank is also not appropriate unless the bank gives it's express permission, infact it's trespassing. Any other stupid suggestions? But they didn't sleep there until they made a bike trail. Why would a town create a bike trail spending our money only to attract the undesirables such as homeless people who would otherwise be at the shelter or their uncle's garage or the ridiculous spandex mafia who whined for money, use the trail once and then go back to bothering cars when they should be at home embracing their inner dweeb? That's fine, and I actually don't disagree with any of it; however it doesn't address the problems. If you want to eliminate all public space, I'm fine with that. If you want to make public space be for exclusive use by those who have funded it, I'm fine with that as well. However, done of that addresses any of my concerns. Just Jack
I betcha there is some nice camping there. Maybe they can trap and relocate GBiD's bothersome campers. ;-) There's Remsen Falls down one of the side trails on the bike portion, that has both a campsite and lean-to. There's other spots in the area also.

If there is a cliff in a town, especially a steep one in a wooded area, make the trail come around a sharp corner down a hill so nobody can see whats coming. Whoosh.....right over the cliff...biker problem solved except for cleanup problems at the bottom but if there are buzzards around you're good. If the homeless are hanging out on the trail is is easy to contain them and they may even go over if they are on a bender.

Station the woman folk & children @ the base of the cliff. Give them spears and hatchets and have them finish off any that may have survived the dip over the precipice.
