Let me start off by saying I don't predict the Bills will make the playoffs, as much as I want it to happen. Mainly because of the Pats being in our division and our schedule. However, let me present you with 2 teams who made the playoffs last year and why it maybe, just maybe, compares a bit to the Bills:

1) Seattle

-Head coach from the college ranks

-Rookie QB (one who actually was not expected to start in the NFL. Trust me, I watched Wilson a ton in college. Projected Clipboard holder. Made some plays and he was a great leader, but not someone you would think would start for an NFL team)

-Stud RB

- Decent, not great, WRs

-Aggressive, attacking defense

-Awesome home field, 12th man advantage - rise up, RWS!

2) Indy

-Rookie Head coach

-Rookie QB

-NO Running game

-Defense ranked 29th against the run

-Very good WRs including a rookie

-Decent, not great, passing defense - their DBs were about the same or worse than Buffalo's

I look at what is happening today/over the weekend and I start thinking that the season is over. But then I realize that everything can change in the blink of an eye for any team. It isn't like we lose Gilmore, start Tuel, and every other team stays 100% where they want to be and we don't get EJ and Gilmore back and Byrd doesn't come around, and other teams don't have the same things happen. I still think we aren't there yet, but the NFL is just weird. I remember the Steelers starting Dennis Dixon, I think, or Charlie Batch, one game Ben was out and winning becasue the rest of team completely rose up and knew they had to do better.

The homer opener is going to be make or break. Win that and we could be in for some serious miracle stuff, loose it and the vets will teach the rooks what a loosing culture is.
