Love this preseason live app -- watched the whole game in 30 minutes.

My takeaways:

-- Smith stares down his first read every time. Brutal. Threw some nice balls and led two TD drives but picked 3 times; also stepped out of the back of the endzone for a safety (no awareness).

-- Sanchez getting reps in the 4th quarter is perplexing, and now he's hurt.

-- Jets' defense will be good. They pressured Eli relentlessly and aside from giving up an 80+ TD run on the first play from scrimmage they played very well.

I know Buffalo played an ugly preseason game yesterday, but they will be much better than the Jets this season. That Jets' offense is ugly.

Rookies look like rookies sometimes. We would do well to remember this. Luck / Wilson / RG3 are all exceptional candidates with pretty good quality teams surrounding them.

Kaepernick sat a year and learned. Rodgers sat many years and learned. EJ3 is going to struggle sometimes this season. Maybe a lot. Just because Smith didn't play lights out in his third preseason game, it does not mean the book has been written on him -- even if we revel in the schadenfreude.

I did the same thing for the Miami/TB game.

-Tannehill has very little protection or time to sit in the pocket.

-Besides a 20 yard run by Miller, Miami's run looks questionable.

I watched it too. All 3 picks were just horrible throws.

I'd swear the only non-first reads he threw were short check-downs after he decided he couldn't force the ball to #1.

Watching Geno's presence on the field and comparing it to what we've seen of EJ -- they are night and day.

Our 7 points wasn't barn burning either, nor going 3 & out in 48 seconds or less.

This is what concerns me with the quick offensive philosophy. We are supposed to tire out the opposing defense but 3 and outs will tire down ours.

3rd place in the AFC east, here we come!

Speaking of the game, what is more telling is the Rex press conference after words. This is so is last season

Quite unbelievable that he would put Sanchez in just to try and win a preseason game.

Pluses of hurry up offense:

  1. Wear down defenses.

  2. Catch defenses off guard.

  3. More chances to score.

Negatives:

  1. Wear down our defense if offense goes 3 and out in 30 seconds.

  2. More chances for interceptions and fumbles.

  3. More chances for injuries.

I think the pros outweigh the cons assuming we can run it effectively, especially since the cons are more potential and pros are more probable. Also, I don't think we're going up-tempo with every play. The situation will dictate, I hope at least.

I like your attitude about EJ . he is a smart focused talented right thinking kid and i think we found the guy .

How was the Giants pressure on Jets o line ? They have a history of causing some havoc for the pass

I expect Smith to improve in time.

I expect Manuel to improve much more than Smith will.

The Giants didn't really generate a ton of pressure and Geno seemed to have a lot of time. That's why it was so obvious how he stared down his receivers. I see a ton of sacks and turnovers against a team that gets pressure.
