The guy has been healthy and a top performer for this team while being a classy professional.

Now people are going to start finding things wrong with him? Pay the man the money he deserves and not worry about the FS position for years.

I wouldn't stay top performer or classy....

I'm not sure if I should throw the flag for bad subject or repeat topic?

OP...please change your thread title to something more descriptive. We'll start there, but IMO this discussion should be part of the Byrd signs tender thread.

In case anyone hasn't noticed, Byrd has openly stated he wants to be traded, this guy will play 16 more games in a Bills uniform, and that's it. There's no doubt he feels betrayed, and will sign elsewhere, so if I were the coaching staff, i'd make damn sure I had his replacement getting as many reps as possible this year.

Lol you really need to put caption on the TV since you cannot listen. "Byrd openly said" no, no he didn't.

I would suggest a title change to "Byrd Injury Concern," or something similar. I think it's a separate topic from him signing the tender ... which is old news, anyway.

Lol, you need to do a little research before you make yourself look foolish, it was just reported this morning on espn that Byrd as asked to be traded.

Fixed!

"NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that "ill will remains" between Byrd and the Buffalo Bills. The two-time Pro Bowl free safety isn't demanding a trade but is believed to be open to one, according to a person informed of Byrd's thinking."

He may well end up traded if the Bills get a good offer, but Byrd has most definitely NOT "openly stated he wants to be traded".

cute.... and no, he, meaning Byrd, the player, has made it public... IE openly... stated, meaning said to someone able to report it to the media, that he wants... meaning would like to have happen... a trade.... meaning play for another team....

clear enough now for you?

Go "fix" and mis-quote then change someone else's post that needs it.

By the way, since this has rubbed so many of the wrong way, bashing me doesn't make it not true or even go away. This holdout was not good, and just because he signed his tender doesn't make me feel good about the whole situation period. so flame away internet tough guys, you're hilarious.

You are one angry clown!!

No one has reported that Byrd has requested a trade. Not even ESPN (which wouldn't mean crap, anyway). Being open to something and requesting something are completely different situations.

Byrd is at the point in his career where he's looking for the big payday. It's that simple. It's likely the Bills will NOT overpay for the 5th or 6th best safety in the league - smart for the Bills. It's also likely that Byrd will accept a trade to a team that WILL be stupid enough to overpay him - smart for Byrd.

Nobody is wrong in this. It's just the nature of the beast.

Someone who holds out this long is obviously not happy, hello. Still, since he did not come in and ask for a trade, and that he's traveling to Washington today is a good sign. I'm sure the agent isn't satisfied, hello. Still, if no one is making direct and acrimonious statements in public, well that's a somewhat good sign too.

I'm not a doctor - I just dress like one. There are doctors on the board, and they'll weigh in. But "degenerative" is fairly defined term. It means that a single surgical procedure does not guarantee a final successful outcome. In fact, it means that multiple surgical procedures do not guarantee a successul long term outcome. It means that there's an underlying condition that will fight against the progress made by the surgery. How fast that battle is won by the degenerative condition depends on the severity of the condition, the patient, and a host of other factors. But in a lot of cases, a surgical procedure doesn't STOP a degenerative condition. It delays the inevitable.

Byrd's PROBABLY going to be okay in the short term, and in the NFL, a career is "short term". But, yeah, I could see some GM having a discussion with his team's medical staff and coming away a little gun-shy.

Life is a degenerative condition.

Actually he has no control over that, Bills will franchise him again if he doesn't come to a long term agreement...plus I got a feeling playing in Pettines system might just change his mind as well...

Hmm - Homey don't play English, apparently. He is believed to have privately discussed with a friend that he was open to a trade. This is definitely not the same as he openly stating he wants a trade. Same word "open" - two completely different meanings. It happens in English.

Your correct move was to say from the start "oops - I misread that" and everyone would have dropped it. But you apparently enjoy shoveling - keep digging.

Extremely well put.

I can find nothing saying he wants a trade, other than some unfounded speculation...did find an article saying the Bills are fielding potential offers for him in what would be a player for player swap...

And the Bills would be remiss if they didn't. Doesn't mean they don't want to sign him. Even though neither Byrd nor his agent are asking for a trade, it doesn't mean you can't look at the possibility if it exists
