Vaccine wasn't really mandated until a few years later... Daughter was born in 2002 and the varicella vaccine was in the routine mix... Anyway... Notice the come back of various conditions/illness? Don't count not getting chicken pox out... Just guessing...but I'll bet especially in Austin. A couple US cities have worse vaccination rates than African countries.
