quinnearlysghost88 Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 (edited) Just taking a closer look at the schedule and realized that with a late bye week, a game in Toronto and a road trip, we wont be in front of our home crowd for five weeks. Why does it always feel like we get the short of the scheduling stick. Edited August 22, 2013 by quinnearlysghost88
Captain Hindsight Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 The Bills request to have fewer home games in december because its cold and tough to sell out....
microscopes Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 The Bills request to have fewer home games in december because its cold and tough to sell out.... Do they really? I never heard that before. I thought Russ said he likes playing here in December?
uticaclub Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 The Bills request to have fewer home games in december because its cold and tough to sell out.... I think the fact that we have had 1 meaningful game in December in the last 13 years might have more to do with it
Captain Hindsight Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Do they really? I never heard that before. I thought Russ said he likes playing here in December? Trying to find an article but I have read that before
microscopes Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Trying to find an article but I have read that before I'll google it too. I'd be bummed if that is true. What a waste of a valuable resource. Fans don't come to the games in December because the team is out of playoff contention by then. Not because of the weather.
Just Jack Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 High schools have used the stadium for their playoffs in the past. Maybe that's also in the same time frame?
microscopes Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Here is the Russ Brandon quote I was talking about: "You know, you want to be home in December, especially when these games mean something" A little different than I remember it.
Luka Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 The Bills request to have fewer home games in december because its cold and tough to sell out.... If that's true, that's ridiculous. When was the last time we were in playoff contention until the end of the season? 2004?
microscopes Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 If that's true, that's ridiculous. When was the last time we were in playoff contention until the end of the season? 2004? Yeah, the cold is why they can't sell out. Not because theyre 3-10 at that point.
Just Jack Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 If that's true, that's ridiculous. When was the last time we were in playoff contention until the end of the season? 2004? I can't remember the exact year, other than it was sometime between 2000-2003 based on where my seats were, that I received a letter from the Bills, telling me to get my deposit in for playoff tickets. I don't recall getting any such letter since.
PromoTheRobot Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Where is the thread last year complaining about too many games in December? Don't forget there is the UB/Bowling Green game @ RWS the Friday after Thanksgiving. PTR
nucci Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Do they really? I never heard that before. I thought Russ said he likes playing here in December? He does. many fans complain about late season home games. During my prime we loved December games with 78000 in the stands. Jets in Dec '93. -2 temp;, -30 Wind chill. Of course I couldn't handle that today. I was much younger then!!

Why does it always feel like we get the short of the scheduling stick. Because we always look for things to cry about. Seriously, I remember people saying we got hosed last season having 3 December games at home. So which is it? PTR Edited August 22, 2013 by PromoTheRobot
metzelaars_lives Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 High schools have used the stadium for their playoffs in the past. Maybe that's also in the same time frame? 1. high school playoff games are not on Sunday 2. I would think that the high school playoffs would work around the NFL schedule, not the other way around
YoloinOhio Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 I have noticed this the past few years... their schedule is heavy with home games at he beginning of the season. I think that is what had led to them starting off well and then finishing poorlly. By contrast, San Diego's schedule is heavy with home games at the end of the year. They are known for a slow start and finishing well. I do think weather is a factor on how they schedule. I wish it wasn't, because one reason they didn;t want to put a dome on the Ralph was for the competitive advantage of the December weather.
microscopes Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Because we always look for things to cry about. Seriously, I remember people saying we got hosed last season having 3 December games at home. So which is it? PTR That's not really true. Everyone has a different opinion, so obviously some will feel differently about December games than others.
mattsox Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 The Bills request to have fewer home games in december because its cold and tough to sell out.... Loser Speak. But That's what they are until proven otherwise...
PromoTheRobot Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 That's not really true. Everyone has a different opinion, so obviously some will feel differently about December games than others. I remember when I had 200 posts...in 1998.
nucci Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Promo is correct. There were many complaints by fans for too many late season home games.
