He shanked 2 of them today - completely unacceptable for an NFL punter - there has to e someone better out there.

I still don't entirely understand why we cut Stahovich

I still don't understand why they cut moorman.

Probably count in one hand the times I recall moorman shanking a punt in hi career. Powell shanks multiple each game.

Eh, I thought that in his last few years here, he was pretty inconsistent.

It was one shank (for 19 yards) when the ball was at mid-field and he was trying to directional kick it.

Thought it was two - tough listening on the radio - either way, one per game is too much, which is what he seems to average.

I looked at the gamebooks for both pre-season games. No shanks in game 1 (Powell punted first half, Stahovick in the 2nd). And he had the one shank, his first punt, again at mid-field, which looked like a directional punt gone awry. Might have to table the directional punts for now, IMHO.

Maybe inconsistent, as in not booming huge punts anymore. But he wasn't shanking 19 yarders.

Inconsistent, as in booming punts into the EZ from the opponent's 45-yard line, and kicking 35-yarders from our own 20.

Two Oakland punters today -- Kluwe the ex Viking averaged 49 yards on three kicks and a second year guy, King i think, averaged 57 on three kicks with a long of 61. One of the two would work nicely.

... and his blocker was pushed right in his face. Almost a blocked kick.

Powell will be fine... Directional punting (never in my life have unseen so much writing about directional punts) is the most difficult kick for a punter... Sure he's a pro... But he has a big leg, and as long as he works on those directional chumpies in practice until he masters them, lets hope he sticks to the short back spin deals we saw from him last year....
