I miss 'em too - especially the scr*w jobs, as in the damaged Paul Seymour to Pgh for Frank Lewis, or Lamonica to Oak for Tom Flores and Art Powell.

it is rare to trade a player, you dont want, to a team willing to trade a player, they dont need, to you that happens to fit your system and fills a need.

those trades are so complicated its rare. in baseball you need a pitcher, and you can loose a hitter, its no prob. but the NFL is bound by the cap, and trading a good RB for a good OT or OG is dificult cus most teams arnt willing to give up a good OG or OT, that doesnt have a huge cap hit.

also, evaluating each players worth relative to eachother is dificult.

champ baily vs. C. Portis included draft picks cus they are at diffrent positions and there skill levels vary by opinions.

also, draft picks are VERY OVERRATED. its a gamble. so a first rounder could be a bust, or the next joe montana. you dont know. but a player who has 4 years in the NFL, you know exactly what they can do. a team will trade 2 first round picks for some 18 year old untested player, but wont trade a first rounder for a proven starter....

most teams would rather draft a RB and HOPE he can get 1500 yards a year, rather than sign a RB that WILL get them 1300 yards but not much more.

also, draft picks allow you to select a player at the position you need to fill, rather than finding good NFL players with low cap hits whoes teams are willing to trade...
