QCity Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 MVP of the 1st Half: Mike Pettine. omg I don't think I've ever seen so many blitzes in a preseason game. This defense is going to be fun to watch this year.
Mark Vader Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 The bills have 89 yards rushing in the first half, even with a so-so passing game. Not too bad at all! That's very encouraging. Freddy looking good tonight.
n3wyork13 Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 So in the two minute drill EJ could put it in the endzone and Kolb decided to be Captain Checkdown yep take a shot fer cryin out loud
Cugalabanza Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 41 plays run for the Bills. Just the way coach wants it. A good sign.
Meark Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 (edited) Im thinking the same. But do you keep him and cut Rogers? Yes. (if necessary) Edited August 17, 2013 by MarkinSanDiego
Clippers of Nfl Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 13/21 for 111yards one int 61%. His yardage sucks. Man if Ej has a "decent" outing, qb competition will be over!!!!
Dorkington Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 (edited) Agree with the above. Liked the tone of the defense. A few run plays they seemed to be too aggressive and got caught, but really thats nit picking a wonderful performance. Offensively I haven't been impressed with our play calling. Kolb's timing seems off, and can't seem to get on the same page as the rest of the guys. I don't think missing a week excuses that for a veteran, personally. Also, not overly happy with how we're calling run plays for CJ. He's not a very effective power runner, so I'd like to see us run more spread formations when he's the main back. You can still run inside from those, but you'll have less guys stacked in the box. For FJ and Choice, though, it works just fine what they are doing. Maybe they're experimenting? Bring on EJ! Here's hoping he lights it up in the second half. Edited August 17, 2013 by Dorkington
The Poojer Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 good point...could also account for kolbs shaky start...its not a pace he's probably used to in his pro career... 41 plays run for the Bills. Just the way coach wants it. A good sign.
BRAWNDO Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Defense with more points than offense at the half. I hope they're this good against NE. Brady is 12 for 12 107yds with a TD. It should be fun to watch what a real D can do
d_wag Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 MVP of first half -- jerry Hughes, very fast, very impressive; don't know what went wrong in IND but loving this guys motor and instincts LVP of first half - Kevin Kolb, missing guys, looking rattled, can't see him making team
Wayne Cubed Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Brady is 12 for 12 107yds with a TD. It should be fun to watch what a real D can do 11 for 12... he had an incomplete pass to Amendola on the last drive.
BRAWNDO Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Im thinking the same. But do you keep him and cut Rogers? It depends if you can ever see him as a Bill or not. He will be picked up on waivers by another team.
Fixxxer Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Brady is currently 21 for 20, he's amazing and defying mathematic logic in the process.
BRAWNDO Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 11 for 12... he had an incomplete pass to Amendola on the last drive. Man he sucks
Dorkington Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 9 penalties? Sheesh, didn't realize it was that bad, we need to fix that.

Here's hoping he lights it up in the second half. From what I could see with Kolb, he is holding on to the ball a bit too long and/or "staring down" his receivers. When he tries to use a quicker release he is kind of inaccurate. I don't want to condemn him after 1 half of play but, for a "veteran" he didn't look as sharp as either of our 2 rookie QB's.
BRAWNDO Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 9 penalties? Sheesh, didn't realize it was that bad, we need to fix that. Marrone will not be happy with that
PromoTheRobot Posted August 17, 2013 Author Posted August 17, 2013 Love the aggressive defense but I wonder if part of the reason it's working so well is that no team game plans for it in pre-season? I wonder if we will be as effective in the regular season? PTR
