I know this will be taken as pretty bad news on this board, but the country is doing better and moving in a better direction which for most people is good news.

“The labor market is improving,” said Brian Jones, a senior U.S. economist at Societe Generale in New York, who projected 322,000, the closest of all economists surveyed by Bloomberg. “We’ve got decent momentum on consumer spending” heading into the third quarter, he said.

I can personally attest to the fact that the job market is NOT improving. Part-time, low wage jobs mostly and not too many of those available.

It's a sad fact that the US Department of Labor produces a monthly jobs report that shows people giving up ever finding a job. Well, I guess what's really so sad about that is that Democrats won't admit how bad this is. Where do these people who gave up finding a job go? How do they eat? Are they homeless?

Gotta crawl before you walk!

40 YEARS.

And the only reason his numbers are THAT good is because of 600k temporary census-related jobs created that no longer exist.

Can you figure out how that article fits together with these two?

If you only focus on one indicator, the rate of unemployment, and have no idea how that number is determined, then its easy to see improvement.

Well, the baby boomers retiring increase the non-labor force, of course.

Record numbers of people collecting disability decrease the labor participation rate too, of course.

High structural unemployment is a sign that things are improving?

More job openings are a bad sign?

And how can you expect not to have more people on disability with an aging work force? The boomers are getting up there!

Improving Job Market.....................

war is peace

freedom is slavery

ignorance is strength

I pine for the days of Bush's "jobless recovery."

It's called "retirement," not "disability," you numbskull.

But it is good to see you back, Dave.
