Alonso and Stevie Johnson will not play Friday. Alonso cleared to play but being cautious. Stevie likely back for Washington week.

Kiko Alonso will not play Friday. Medically cleared, but Marrone being careful.

 

"Kiko Alonso is dealing with a minor shoulder ailment, and the team’s medical staff has cleared him to play Friday night, but he won’t be per the orders of head coach Doug Marrone.

“Kiko Alonso didn’t practice today,” said Marrone. ”He’s cleared by the trainers, the coaches wanted him out there I’m resting him. I’m going to hold him out for a couple of days to make sure we get him back. I don’t plan on him playing.”

Marrone’s reasoning is Alonso has had among the most reps of any player in the training camp setting. That kind of player load can make the middle linebacker more susceptible to injury, so Marrone chose to shut him down for a few days."
