merlin Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 If the Bills are not able to strike a deal for TH for what they deem to be satisfactory compensation, and Henry decides to hold out ... can he just sit out the entire 2005 season, and then sign with any team he wants in 2006? Or would his rights still be "owned" by the Bills, even if they didn't pay him at all for 2005? Just curious how that all works .... GO BILLS!
Snorom Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 I do believe he has to play some games or be on the injured reserve list for him to have honored his contract. However the Bills will have to leave him on the roster.
MattyT Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 My understanding is that he'd be free to walk at the conclusion of the 2005 season. IMO, he will either be traded (most likely) or his contract will be reworked to satisfy him enough to play. He's really not making all that much next year so, given that McGahee is a higher injury risk than usual, it might be worth it for the Bills to pay him a little more to be a backup and avoid a holdout situation.
