dundy249 Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 This looks like a pretty ambitious plan. There are some big dollar figures attached. It would be nice to see it succeed, but I'm not sure if it is viable financially. Where will the money come from? I'd be concerned about large scale residential high-rise development along the waterfront too. I'd like to see more of a park. http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20050113/1058425.asp 204169[/snapback] I love Buffalo but will say this will never happen. Just like the Adelphia building, the casino, the zoo ect...ect.... I moved away over a year and a half ago and now live in a city that knows how to get things done.(Charlotte) Not to mention the 70 degree weather in January is not too bad either. I still make it back to 3 to 4 Bills games a year and see the rest with Sunday Ticket. 3 words sum up why this will never happen in Buffalo...Buffalo Common Council. People just keep voting these jokers into office year after year. Good luck at the current rate Buffalo will be declassified from a city to a town in no time!!!!
LabattBlue Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 Being a life-long WNY resident I am pessimistic whenever a new project is announced from the Peace Bridge to the Inner Harbor plan to the Outer Harbor Plan to Bass Pro, etc.... That being said, this section of the outer harbor has been nothing but fields for so long under the reign of the NFTA, that any plan is better than no plan. All we can do is hope that due to a miracle of God one of these projects actually will come to fruition.
Kevbeau Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 What, a waterfront proposal that doesn't involve a casino? Because everyone knows that the way to revive a down economy is to introduce gambling. Think of all the tax dollars from tourists that shun Atlantic City and Vegas tocome to the Buffalo waterfront. [sarcasm off] You can put me in the skeptical column.
