boyst Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 http://billllsidlemi...irrel-trap.html The guy took a potato gun and set it up on a lever that when the weight of the squirrel causes it to tip that it sets off the firing mechanism to shoot the squirrel. Maybe I will have a new to do list item. I need a few hobbies, anyway.
mrags Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 I bought a house and my buddy apparently grew up in the house sharing a backyard fence. Anyway, the point of this story is that would tell me stories about the guy 2 houses down from him. He was a Vietnam vet and was whacked out. I guess he would leave his windows and doors open with trails of food leading up into the house for all sorts of animals. Needless to say we've had all sorts of rodent problems in the neighborhood for years. So my buddy also told me stories that his father would try and rid the rodent problem in the neighborhood. Here's a few things he would do: Sit in the house with a BB Gun, clipping them as they ran against the fence. Nail sheets of tar to a tree with food on it. Rig Xmas lights on the fence with open wires. As the squirrels would run along the fence and take bits of food that he strategically placed, he would flip the on switch on the Xmas lights to fry them. Thought you'd enjoy the ideas.
DC Tom Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 What about a squirrel launcher? Squirrel-a-pult! They stole my name! I had a squirrel problem where the chewed through an attic vent. I told my wife I was going to solve the problem by mounting a pressure plate with a pneumatic actuator on it - squirrel steps on plate, 120psi launches squirrel into neighbor's yard.
ICanSleepWhenI'mDead Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 I need a few hobbies, anyway. Try punkin chunkin - - you could take out squirrels from about a mile away with one of the air cannons: http://www.punkinchunkin.com/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/67840039@N08/6329293844 I saw one of the annual "world championship" punkin chunkin competitions on the Discovery Channel a while back - - looked like a hoot. I'd like to see one in person some day.
