The 2013 Training Camp Thread: Week 2

Recommended Posts

Let's hope it's nothing serious. Irrespective of Williams' status, no Byrd until a week before the regular season opener as the best case scenario.

None of my "Byrdometer" posts are meant to be taken seriously.

GO BILLS!!!

It seems like they're finally figuring out how to "cope" with Pettine's defense.

Kolb mentioned that Hackett had changed up a few things (I'm assuming protections and hot reads) but I also think that the offense has become acclimatized and that the unpredictability of the Bills D is becoming more predictable after all these practices.

It makes me shudder to think of how handicapped the Bills offense was last year by never being mentally challenged by Wanny's Vanilla Light scheme.

I think this also might be an indication that the offense is getting more habitual and less thought out as they become more familiar with it, again a good sign esp this early into a new offense.

I like hearing that Hackett changed things up, he's adaptable, that's good.

Good point on the vanilla D from last year hampering the O ability to cope with an aggressive defense, I hadn't considered that!

Yes. SJBF makes many good posts that give food for thought. You don't find many teams that get better by continually practicing a diet of plain vanilla.

Here's a 3:22 video feature by John Murphy on Bills tackle Cordy Glenn.

Murphy talks to Marrone and Eric Wood about their views on Cordy and there's lots of iso video of Cordy in action in training camp practices.

Saturday's Bills Roundup:

http://www.buffalobills.com/media-center/videos/

Apparently EJ had another good practice and the Bills did a goal-line sequence featuring live hitting.

The Bills scored 7 TDs on 8 goal-line plays and EJ showed perfect touch and placement on a pass to eligible tackle Thomas Welch.

On Bills roundup it seemed like Welch was playing tight end in a pinch because of injury to Caussin. I guess welch was a tight end in college and it really was a heck of a catch

The long ball from EJ to Easley was a thing of beauty

By far, the most encouraging thing I've seen out of the first week of camp is how EJ does not at all appear to be overwhelmed by the situation. I think it was one of the O-linemen who specifically mentioned no sign of the typical "doe-in-headlights" look from a rookie. I don't know if I've ever anticipated the first preseason game this much, because I want to see that on-field presence for myself.

The battle for the #3 RB appears to be quite interesting as well...I know Choice is smart and well-liked, but Zach Brown was very effective in goal line yesterday and folks have talked about Gaskins also. Might come down to who is the best ST player.

Agreed. I think if either of the young players are close to choice they will go young. They already have a vet in Freddy who isn't going to be around more than a couple more years

The bolded red part is very funny! :worthy::doh:

Languages change and evolve. Up until the public school systems came into effect people used to spell things however they wanted. And new words are thought up all the time. Relax, it is the nature of the beast.

Except in France where they have their own language-protection panty-wad brigade.

Rest of the team is here, and no Kevin Kolb. #Bills

Manuel takes another day as lead.

I have to wonder, with the first live scrimmage Monday night, if Kolb misses that as well and Manuel holds his own, is the competition over?
