As discussed earlier, a new thread for the new week.

While it's debatable when this topic should have started, it seems logical to start it on the first day back from the team's first day off from practice. Also, this is the day that the team encountered its first significant injury, the hamstring strain suffered by Stevie Johnson.

I always love listening to Marrone's pressers.

Not that the bar has been set high recently but it's refreshing to have a head coach with a working-class style belying a very intelligent mind. Marrone's a very deceptively smart guy IMO. Don't let his "every man" persona fool you. This guy was accepted to law school and also had a path paved for him to become a Division I Athletic Director. He eschewed both of those careers to follow his love of coaching.

I love listening to EJ Manuel speak. I have a background in broadcasting and work in construction so I value communication that's only as long as it needs to be in order to be clear. EJ is very economical with his language yet he speaks volumes when he opens his mouth. His maturity and assuredness are unmistakable and I don't believe that there's phony bone in his body.

Another thing about today's reports is that both EJ and Kolb spoke at length about Nathaniel Hackett and it's pretty clear that they view him as both extremely knowledgeable and yet youthful and energizing as well.

Marrone spoke about the ebb and flow of practice (the offense and defense taking turns asserting control) as being very game-like. But apparently the offense was really humming today under both QBs.

Really good stuff today that I hope everyone checks out.

Another thing picked up by listening to the QB interviews:

It seems like they're finally figuring out how to "cope" with Pettine's defense.

Kolb mentioned that Hackett had changed up a few things (I'm assuming protections and hot reads) but I also think that the offense has become acclimatized and that the unpredictability of the Bills D is becoming more predictable after all these practices.

It makes me shudder to think of how handicapped the Bills offense was last year by never being mentally challenged by Wanny's Vanilla Light scheme.

I won't say that the Bills offense is gonna be lights out this year but I believe that they will be mentally prepared to deal with whatever any defense throws at them.

Way to kick it off.

I gave it my best Brad Daluiso!

It's amazing how effortless that practice ending bomb was for EJ. He barely had to put anything behind it to heave it 40 yards down field.

When did the word presser come into being. Why would journalists who are suppose to be protectors of the language get so lazy the press conference is no longer acceptable. No issue with you using it Jose but this word is not in the dictionary.

Its been discussed here before a year or two ago when it was first foisted upon the public. I blame it on Twitter. Twitter's for twats.

Not to hijack the thread, but I feel similarly regarding the use of "tiebreak" in tennis. When I was growing up they were "tiebreakers" and somewhere along the way the "ers" was just completely abandoned for no reason. Still annoys the hell out of me.

Carry on.

Noticed that as well. Barely stepped into it.

One of the many attributes EJ has is the ability to throw balls with touch, long or short.

He's really a naturally smooth athlete with a feel for the game.

If one is to believe this Giff fellow (@VPGIFF) EJ looks like the second coming of Johnny Unitas this morning.

Is he related to Geoff?

@buffalobills: #Bills O scores its 3rd straight goal line TD on a tackle-eligible toss from EJ Manuel to Thomas Welch. #BillsCamp

@buffalobills: And QB Jeff Tuel follows with TD to OT Sam Young. OC Nathaniel Hackett seeing who's studied the playbook with T-eligible plays on day 7.

From reading all of the tweets from all of the twats at practice, sounds like this was a good one, particularly for EJ and the offense.

Duke Williams to the locker room means the Byrdometer goes up today.

From the sounds of it, Pettine can't be too happy with his defense after today.

GO BILLS!!!

Let's hope it's nothing serious. Irrespective of Williams' status, no Byrd until a week before the regular season opener as the best case scenario.

The bolded red part is very funny! :worthy::doh:

Languages change and evolve. Up until the public school systems came into effect people used to spell things however they wanted. And new words are thought up all the time. Relax, it is the nature of the beast.
