ajzepp Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 So yesterday I was watching movies when I was supposed to be working, and the film "Philadelphia" came on. Toward the end of the film, this song by Neil Young began playing, and even though I'd seen this movie before, I don't recall this particular music. As it played, I found myself being REALLY affected by it. The only word I can use to describe it is "haunting"...in the sense that it affected me on an emotional level and sort of threw me into some sort of nostalgic tailspin. I know that the majority of us love talking music, so I thought I'd see if you guys have any examples that would fall into this category. Feel free to define "haunting" in any way that makes sense to you...hopefully after you listen to this track you'll be able to get a feel for what I'm trying to get at. Here's the brilliant Neil Young performing the song live...

He lived for quite a few years after they filmed that concert but he knew even at that point that drugs had taken control of him.
Pete Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Most haunting song ever. DC Tom Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 ^^^^ well played Well-played would have been "Unchained Melody." But somebody had to do it...may as well have been me.
ajzepp Posted July 21, 2013 Author Posted July 21, 2013 Well-played would have been "Unchained Melody." But somebody had to do it...may as well have been me. I still remember when Ghostbusters came on the radio...back then I would have the local pop station on with a cassette tape loaded an ready to go, and as soon as I heard the opening few notes I would rush over to push "play+record"...good times.
Mark Vader Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 While this is not a song, this piece of music I find both beautiful & haunting. The theme used for Claudia Cardinale's character Jill McBain from "Once Upon a Time in the West".
ExiledInIllinois Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Well-played would have been "Unchained Melody." But somebody had to do it...may as well have been me. LoL... Toss in that little diddy by Bobby 'Boris' Pickett & the Crypt-Kickers... And we have a three-fer of haunting tunes!

Almost every song except for maybe rooster foreshadows his premature death from drugs.

ChevyVanMiller Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 If there is a woman in the world that you lost or gave away and you find your mind at times running back to her this song will haunt the hell out of you. (Oh, and a great guitar solo for the ages to boot.)
