KeisterHollow Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Just a quick question to toss out there and chew on (Forgive the absence of spaces / new paragraphs - my Enter button doesn't work on this site anymore, although it works fine on any other application). Okay, I just read Best was released by the Lions. My first, albeit not deeply thought out, thought was that he'd be a near replica of Spiller. We could give him the time he needs to heal up, and if / when he gets healthy, we could field, simultaneously, two of the fastest RB's in the NFL (and, added to our WR corps, no doubt the fastest offense - by a wide margin - in all the land!). I know, it'd be an unnecessary addition, and only worth it, even remotely, at the right price, but does it intrigue anyone else?
peterlaw Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 We look well set at RB. But we could be in the market for any quality CBs or MLBs that hit the waiver wire.
nucci Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 He has health problems and probably won't play again. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/07/17/lions-release-concussion-plagued-jahvid-best/
ganesh Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Best played better than Spiller in their rookie seasons. Of course, Chan never gave Spiller a chance. Best has been beset with multiple concussions and his career could be over.
Maury Ballstein Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 best is toast..............small guy way way too many concussions playing in the NFL is hard.
Green Lightning Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 At Best, a bad idea. Sorry, it had to be said.
Canadian Bills Fan Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 The Best thing he could do right now is call it a career. Couldn't resist. CBF
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I will entertain this question. Assuming he is cleared medically to play and could be had at a vet minimum deal, then it becomes a more interesting question.
Bronc24 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I will entertain this question. Assuming he is cleared medically to play and could be had at a vet minimum deal, then it becomes a more interesting question. He won't be cleared, so it's Best we leave this one alone.
White Linen Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 (edited) No. There are at least five free agent RB's that I would choose over Best right now and none of them are better than Fred Jackson. I don't want any part of having them "on the field simultaneously" for certain. I think Choice is getting cut and I like the idea of Zach Brown making the team. Edited July 18, 2013 by Triple Threat
billsrcursed Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 My Best guess; it's best Best rests. Best Best reply.
kickedface Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 the concussion machine is not worth getting, he was a decent player but can't/won't stay healthy. if the nfl cares about concussions as much as they say they do he should be pretty much done.
RyanC883 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I will entertain this question. Assuming he is cleared medically to play and could be had at a vet minimum deal, then it becomes a more interesting question. Agreed. If he is okay medically, he would be one more quality toy for Hackett to play with. Plus, if he does get injured again, he'd be our 3rd String RB, so really no harm if he signs for vet min.
Captain Hindsight Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 He wont likely play again so its best to just drop it

That's a coincidence because all of the enter buttons in Jahvid Best's brain are also dysfunctional due to concussions.
