LewPort71 Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 (edited) Yesterday Mrs. Lew and I had to put down our 18 year old dog, Kibbles. She was a yellow lab / cocker spaniel mix. The vet was very compassionate. She had had two seizures in recent weeks and her appetite was reduced. Edited June 23, 2013 by LewPort71
Philly McButterpants Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Sorry for your loss. Eighteen years is a great life for a dog.
CowgirlsFan Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Awwww....sorry to hear the news! I had a neice dog that was a cocker too! Sister had to do the same thing.
Best Player Available Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Sad story, one of the dogs we have is a Black Lab. She just turned 14 and has major issues as any older large breed would. And her time is getting short. Even 14 for a Lab is old. Any Lab or Lab mix reaching 18 is almost unheard of. A testament to your loving care no doubt.
LewPort71 Posted June 23, 2013 Author Posted June 23, 2013 Thanks. The recent loss of appetite was a large indicator that the end was near.
San Jose Bills Fan Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Deepest condolences. Having been through this and expecting to go through it a few more times, I know the sadness your family feels. Lovely pup in your picture. RIP Kibbles. Better to have loved and lost…
Beerball Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Sorry to hear. Sounds like you had a terrific companion for 18 years.
boyst Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I am glad you and your family got to spend 18 great years with your friend. I am sorry for your loss.
Chef Jim Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Look at it this way. From the picture you and Mrs. Lew had a great companion for all those years. As a guy with no children but only pets the B word is we outlive our "children".
