Happy Days Lois & Clark Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05009/439384.stm Unhappy in Dallas The Cowboys may use part of their large cap room to dispatch defensive end Marcellus Wiley, who signed a four-year, $16 million contract because Dallas wanted a better pass rush. Wiley had three sacks, but he savaged the Cowboys after the season. Parcells moved him from the left side to the right side of the line, then took his pass rusher off the field in pass-rushing situations. "If they told me what was going to occur before I signed, I never would have stepped foot in Texas," Wiley said.
BillsGuyInMalta Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Raise your hand if you'd welcome Wiley back...
JÂy RÛßeÒ Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Raise your hand if you'd welcome Wiley back... 202353 I like him and all, but for the $ he'll want I don't think his production will be that much better than Kelsay next year. Kelsay is reminding me more and more of Phil Hansen. If only they'd leave him in on 3rd and long...
34-78-83 Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Agreed. I Loved Wiley as a personality, but his production since he left town (oddly much like many a former Bill ) has dwindled since his departure...
SouthTownBills51 Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Id be open to welcoming him back, he had some success here, but not for the money he'd command..
Chef Jim Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Id be open to welcoming him back, he had some success here, but not for the money he'd command.. 202443 Oh come on, can't any of you let go of the past. He sucks now, just as he sucked in SD, just as the sucked with the Bills.
BillnutinHouston Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 1 yr deal at the vets minimum 202449 I'd be happy to read about a deal like this in the paper.
swede316 Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 I'd like to see him back in an incentive laden deal....Pay for production...Gotta love it.
MadBuffaloDisease Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 He had about 2 productive years in the NFL: his last with the Bills and his first with the Chargers. After that it seemed that he was more interested in the money and lifestyle than wanting to be a good player. I agree with a 1-year deal for the min, but someone in someplace more attractive than Buffalo will probably offer him more.
d_wag Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 after the year wiley just had (combined with the previous two where he amassed only 9 sacks), i think he's done with big money deals......... 1 year at the vet min is not out of the question.......few teams will want the guy with his attitude.........
theesir Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 There is NO way that the production Wiley has put up the past couple of years warrents him demanding a big money contract. He will end up signing in the mid to low range of free agent contracts.
Mark VI Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 1 yr deal at the vets minimum 202449 Agreed.
ganesh Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Wiley hated the cold weather and wanted to play for a warm weather team....I doubt he wants to come back to Buffalo escpecially for Vet Minimum as every one wants it.
col_forbin Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 His state of mind doesn't equal paying him league min. in my opinion. Let him bling bling on down the road.
RJsackedagain Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Wiley has turned into a jerk ....the Bills don't need any more jerks on the team, especially ones that can't rush the passer any more. Dat Dude had three freaking sacks this year ---enjoy the CFL Marcellus
ROCCEO Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 seriously, hes as washed up as the come right now. The guy doesnt restructure to help the chargers then gets cut and sucks for another team. Sounds to me like we can stick a fork in him, because he's DONE. Also, remember TD had to make a choice: Sign moulds or marcellus, but only one. Looks like he made the right choice, eh?
Gavin in Va Beach Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 1 yr deal at the vets minimum 202449 And if he ever refers to himself as 'Dat Dude', he is immediately cut from the team.
John from Riverside Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 He played well for us.... This is exactly the kind of guy that we need to be that "pass rush specialist" role thingy on 3rd down.... Dont know how much he would cost though.....
