ObamaCare: When Socialist Theory Meets Practice

By Clarice Feldman

America is lucky to have had two great social theorists: Yogi Berra and Richard Feynman. Had the Democrats heeded their words of wisdom when the issue of ObamaCare arose they'd not be sliding down the slippery slope they greased all by themselves.

Yogi's warning is nice and succinct:

"In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is."

Professor Feynman said much the same thing but in a few more words:

"The real question of government versus private enterprise is argued on too philosophical and abstract a basis. Theoretically, planning may be good. But nobody has ever figured out the cause of government stupidity and until they do (and find the cure) all ideal plans will fall into quicksand."

Whichever version you choose, it's clear that Democrat stupidity is at the heart of Obamacare, the entire juggernaut is sliding into quicksand and taking the party down with it as bits of the law become implemented, other bits have been delayed, waived for some buddies, or jettisoned as unworkable by an administration which consistently confuses executive and legislative functions. The Republicans now face a dilemma of how best to save us from the monstrous overreach of this statute without allowing the DeMSM (a coinage expressing the partisan pro-Democrat mass media) to blame them for the onrushing disaster.

She then goes on , at length, to discuss where we are and which would be best, defunding or delay................

Mike Tyson said it best: "everyone has a plan 'til they get punched in the mouth."

LoL... Geeze Louise, now the PPP idiots are quoting Mike Tyson. Sounds like Givens had a plan even after she got punched in the mouth or "boned"... Take your pick.

"...I like how Mike Tyson, a goddamn destroyer of worlds, is worried about offending the spokesmodel for Chanel No. 5 who he originally referred to as a hooker. I mentioned that part, right?

“One day, I’m going to her house to bone her again and no one’s home, and I’m leaving and she’s pulling up with Brad Pitt, and I’m sad,” he said. At the time, Tyson did not recognize the superstar actor. “He wasn’t Brad Pitt back then. He was just some little beach-bum-looking dude. ‘Hey dude’ kind of guy. He was probably selling his body for money or something, I don’t know. He was very pretty.“

“I wasn’t thinking about attacking him,” Tyson told Global Grind. “I was just depressed I couldn’t bone her no more.”

“I wasn’t angwy or nuthin’. It’s just dat when I can’t bone nobody, it’s make teahs come outta eyes, Gwaham. It’s vewy depwessin’ to my soul. I’ll never be dat pwetty, you know what I’m sayin’? *sniff* And dose bootaful eyes…”

Ha... LoL! Oh my...

He was also quoted saying he woud eat Holyfields children or something too...

Side note: I recently watched Tyons best fights on YouTube... There was a three year period, I believe 86-89 tht he literally could not be beaten, by any fighter in history.... It was fun to watch

No, I'm pretty sure Ms. Givens had a plan prior to being punched in the mouth, but then her plans changed quickly afterwards. Although I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and give you a pass on this, since I know you know Tyson was talking about his opponents in the ring.

Yes, not everything by Mikey was brilliant. And I disagree about that 3-year period. I used to beat him regularly...on Punch-Out. ;)

I doubt he's read von Moltke, so I doubt he was paraphrasing "No plan survives contact with the enemy," but Tyson's version is all the more profound for it's blunt colloquialism, I think. Merely Tyson's blind squirrel moment.

We're still waiting for yours.

LoL... You are such a twit.

That is right. You "think."

Advice: Do us all a favor and don't think. There is a nerdy, cerebral comedian out there that wants their act back.

Waiting for what? LoL... As usual, you are the supercilious, pedantic, anal orifice.

Insults generally work better if they're...y'know...not complimentary.

Waiting for your blind squirrel moment. Sorry, forgot we have to spell things out for you like you're six.

You don't deserve it. :-P

Hey Diane Chambers (DC) Tom, it is more fun watching pseudo intellectual twits like yourself equate von Moltke to Mike Tyson. Priceless.

Study: ‘Obamacare’ Will Lead To Health Insurance ‘Death Spiral’

WASHINGTON (CBS DC) – A substantial number of young, single Americans have a solid financial incentive to forego the “Obamacare” health insurance exchanges – a trend that could send the federal health care program into a “death spiral.”

According to a new study from the National Center for Public Policy Research, a large number of single people between the ages 18-34 who do not have children have a substantial financial incentive not to “cross-subsidize” older, sicker Americans covered under the health care system. Without the younger generation purchasing through the exchanges, the exchanges will quickly dry up.

The study finds that in 2014, this young generation will have incentive to pay the individual mandate penalty of $95 – or one percent of income – because about 3.7 million of them will be nearly $500 better off to forego the exchange.

More than 3 million will be $1,000 better off if they go the same route.

Study author and health care policy analyst, David Hogbergan, Ph.D., writes that the exchange is an online marketplace for buying insurance set up either by state governments or the federal government.

According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, 16 states and Washington, D.C are setting up their own exchanges, 27 states have decided to let the federal government run their exchange, and seven states are setting up a “hybrid” exchange in which the state and federal government share authority.

Of this younger generation, those who are uninsured or have insurance through the individual market comprise over 57 percent of the group most likely to be eligible for the exchanges. The Congressional Budget Office Estimates that seven million people will participate in the exchanges in 2014.

The Obama Administration estimates that about 2.7 million 18-30 year-olds will need to join the exchanges in 2014 if the health care program is to work.

D.C. Lobbyists are to Obamacare, as rodeo clowns are to a mad bull

I was trying to think of a good analogy when I read this article at The Hill, ObamaCare’s architects reap windfall as Washington lobbyists:

ObamaCare has become big business for an elite network of Washington lobbyists and consultants who helped shape the law from the inside.

More than 30 former administration officials, lawmakers and congressional staffers who worked on the healthcare law have set up shop on K Street since 2010
.

Major lobbying firms such as Fierce, Isakowitz & Blalock, The Glover Park Group, Alston & Bird, BGR Group and Akin Gump can all boast an ObamaCare insider on their lobbying roster — putting them in a prime position to land coveted clients.

“When [Vice President] Biden leaned over [during healthcare signing] and said to [President] Obama, ‘This is a big f’n deal,’” said Ivan Adler, a headhunter at the McCormick Group, “he was right.”

I think the rodeo clown – mad bull analogy works.

The D.C. lobbyists, particularly those who helped build Obamacare and therefore are among the few who might understand it, can help distract the massive mad bullocracy which is getting ready to gouge any business in its path.

No ****. That's how DC works. Name any major piece of legislation passed, and you'll find that lobbyists who lobbied for the legislation are making bank selling their services as an expert on that legislation.

Except these are the same people who drew the thing up also.
