26CornerBlitz Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 (edited) @JeffRussoWKBW RT @JohnBorsa: Breaking: Men accused of recording phone call between #Buffalo #Bills GM Buddy Nix - TB GM Mark Dominik face federal charges. Edited December 7, 2013 by 26CornerBlitz
The Big Cat Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 I loved how Nix got flamed here after falling for something he never should have expected. What those guys did was mad shady, immeasurably unethical and as we're about to find out, borderline illegal. I doubt they're found guilty of anything, though.
Green Lightning Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 (edited) Bet they will be. They'll plea it down but they won't let them skate. Have to set an example. Edited May 29, 2013 by Green Lightning
uncle flap Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 I don't know what the end result of the court proceedings will be, but it is certainly illegal to record a phone call in the manner that these guys (allegedly) did. They may cop a plea or ultimately be found not guilty because I'm not sure what they burden of proof is here, but it does seem pretty open and shut. If they didn't do it- how did they get ahold of the recording? I agree that because of the relatively high profile of this incident that the powers that be will try to set an example. Copping a plea seems likely as they can argue there was no malicious intent, and it would be hard to prove there were any damages as a result.

boyst Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 To say they will not be punished is insane. The Feds do not lose. Bet they will be. They'll plea it down but they won't let them skate. Have to set an example. They'll plea at the least
buffalobillsfansince1918 Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 The Feds do not lose? Really. Go ask Roger Clemens and Barry bonds. The Feds are a joke
atlbillsfan1975 Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Wonder if this was the NFL putting some pressure on the Feds? I get the feeling the League does not like being made to look a fool. Maybe the Commissioner made a call?
Green Lightning Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 The Feds do not lose? Really. Go ask Roger Clemens and Barry bonds. The Feds are a joke Clemens and Bonds are forever tarnished. So the Feds still got their way in a way.
cosmo Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 (edited) The Feds do not lose? Really. Go ask Roger Clemens and Barry bonds. The Feds are a joke Exactly, I can't believe they would rather waste money on something stupid like this than going after terrorists and those who do actual harm. Clemens and Bonds are forever tarnished. So the Feds still got their way in a way. They were going to be tarnished anyway, those perjury trials were a complete waste of money. truth on hold Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 (edited) Clogging up the courts and wasting taxpayer money over a prank call. Ridiculous. Edited May 29, 2013 by Joe_the_6_pack
RyanC883 Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Exactly, I can't believe they would rather waste money on something stupid like this than going after terrorists and those who do actual harm. They were going to be tarnished anyway, those perjury trials were a complete waste of money. Most likely the White Collar Crime division of the Feds are going after these guys. They are totally different people than those who prosecute and investigate terrorist or drug related crimes. What these kids did was most likely a violation of federal laws.
Charles Romes Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 It was funny per the recent Elway to Marino 30 for 30 that a receptionist error 30 years ago also caused the bills to lose Kelly to the USFL.
White Linen Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Clogging up the courts and wasting taxpayer money over a prank call. Ridiculous. I understand what you're saying but you can't limit the system to just heinous crimes.
first_and_ten Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 They should be forced to watch Bills games from the last 13 years
26CornerBlitz Posted May 29, 2013 Author Posted May 29, 2013 (edited) They should be forced to watch Bills games from the last 13 years The SCOTUS has long ago ruled against cruel and unusual punishment....Unless it's voluntary of course. Edited May 29, 2013 by 26CornerBlitz
DrDawkinstein Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 It's not about a prank phone call. Just because it happened to be done to a couple of entertainingly doltish NFL GMs does not make it ok. These guys are still executives in billion dollar corporations. The Feds will come down on them. Mostly because only the Feds get to tap our phones like that.
26CornerBlitz Posted May 29, 2013 Author Posted May 29, 2013 Murph just said on his show that these two guys are from Massachusetts. Hmmm, did Belichick put these guys up to this to find another means to embarrass the Bills?
BillsWatch Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Murph just said on his show that these two guys are from Massachusetts. Hmmm, did Belichick put these guys up to this to find another means to embarrass the Bills? If he had some 'Bills' fans on his speed dial he would have called them and they would have paid to do it.
