Chef Jim Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Yeah, that's pretty poor taste, I think. Almost as bad as when CNN did my life's story: Chef Little Dick.
mrags Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I had the option of going to that game. Right behind him about 10-15 rows up. Instead I watched it on TV. Wow. Ill never forget seeing it.
bbb Posted May 31, 2013 Author Posted May 31, 2013 Here's a follow up article - about what these types of injuries do to the player that "caused" the injury............It seems effed up to me that McCleary never got back Therien when he reached out to him. You're the one who dove at the puck!: http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/9325948/on-burden-player-clint-malarchuk-carries-ordinary-actions-cause-unforgettable-injury
Chandler#81 Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 2 of the 4 worst events in the NHL happened in our building. Damn the luck! I didn't know Malarchuck went through so much afterward and I'm amazed his wife evidently stayed with him through it all, especially with him blaming her after shooting himself.. On a much lighter note, I'm reminded of a Mad Magazine cartoon from decades ago, describing the equipment for a Hockey goaltender. It listed every piece of equipment, ending with the comment ' the Only part of the goalie not covered is 3" of his neck. What's the object of playing hockey? To hit the goalie in the neck with the puck!'
bbb Posted May 31, 2013 Author Posted May 31, 2013 Yeah, I know. The 2 biggest bleeding incidents............I think Clint's wife from back in the 80s is a different one from the one now, but yeah, she stuck through a lot herself.
