NJ Bars Accused of Booze Fraud, Serving Rubbing Alcohol

 

New Jersey authorities are investigating 29 establishments for serving customers cheaper booze as a substitute for top-shelf liquor, including one that allegedly offered rubbing alcohol and food coloring as scotch.

Don't go to TGIF myself. Surprised they didn't put cheese in the bottles. It's on everything else they serve. We like to go to BYOB places. There are a lot in this state. The liquor laws allow municipalities to parse out licenses strictly on a per capita basis. So each town gets a finite (and small) number of them. They get auctioned off for millions.

I wonder how many more just did not get caught.

 

plenty I'm aware of several resturants/bars I've either worked at or gone to that do this quite frequently.
