BarkLessWagMore
Did the bus get off the highway onto the gravel road that goes into the park? The bus took us to our lodge. We did do a separate excursion into the park the next day on a different bus. We went to mile marker 53 (9 hour roundtrip) and saw the big 4 (Brown Bear, Moose, Caribou, Sheep) along with other wildlife. Also great views of the mountain on another clear day. I took a ton of photos that came out pretty great.
Nanker
something about that river monsters show...that host is annoying as f***...such a "self aggrandizing"(?) bastard, yet everytime its on i watch it...i think it's his little notes that he displays on the screen...something rubs me the wrong way about him but i always watch Well, for starters his face looks about like half of the river monsters he hunts. Why does he whisper? He should stand up in a canoe and fall over into the much and get covered with leeches and smacked by Asian Carp. BarkLessWagMore
Back from Alaska. The whale watching in Juneau was great. The highlight was observing a pod of 8 Orcas for 30-45 minutes at close range. Just amazing. I actually took a pretty good video of it and will try to post it on youtube and link it here in the next few days. The cruise and land tour lived up to the hype, as the wildlife, glaciers and mountain ranges provided one thrill after another. And to top it off, the weather was uncharacteristically dry and warm for this time of year. P.S. -- Jim in Anchorage, we found your city to be a little gem. The people were very friendly and very proud of their little corner of the world. We hope to return someday. Finally posted the video. Sorry for the shaky camera in spots. I was trying to enjoy the view and film at the same time. Edited June 15, 2013 by BarkLessWagMore

JÂy RÛßeÒ
Finally posted the video. Sorry for the shaky camera in spots. I was trying to enjoy the view and film at the same time. Superb! And don't apologize for wanting to experience it first hand rather than thru a lens. I've actually stopped recording our life experiences - I want to enjoy them live as they happen rather than watching them on TV later. Chef Jim
My wife and I were sailing off the coast of Orange county here in CA. It was just the two of us in a 32' sailboat. We heard this whooshing noise behind us which scared the crap out of us. We turned around in time to see a whale surface a couple of times no more that 20 feet from the boat. So cool. I really wish everyone could experience that...it's funny, cause when I talk about this to people that have never done it, they think it's interesting but they just dont' really get it cause it's impossible to convey the experience in words. But those of us who have seen this amazing creatures up close remember it forever...pretty amazing!
