Hapless Bills Fan Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 I'm wondering if anyone has seen a comprehensive "grading of the draft pundits" with regard to QB outcomes Specifically, I believe it can be shown that when a QB is drafted in the top of the 1st round, he works out to be a decent NFL starting QB about 50% of the time. Lower 1st to upper 2nd, about 30% of the time. Late second and back, there are "once in a blue moon" exceptions. There have been some famously notable gaffes in the expert rankings - JaMarcus Russell, Ryan Leaf, more recently Jimmy Clausen and Blaine Gabbert. I don't have the stomach for it myself just now, so am wondering if anyone here has run into a comprehensive comparison of expert rankings of QB drafted in the top 2 rounds vs. outcomes of their careers as NFL QB (not probowler, not star, just decent NFL starter)? I'm betting that there is little to no correlation - ie that the QB hailed as "reaches" did not fare better or worse than the QB regarded as "value"
