He had some good times as a 200 and 400 meter sprinter, a 21.01 200m and a 46.17 400m, both of which were top times in the state

There weren't a lot of world events that used the 110 yard distance so now they call it "world's best" not world record, which is pretty stupid. But he was remarkably fast, especially for a big guy.
