Chilly Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Sirius NFL Radio guys liked the Duke pick. Pat Kirwan says explosive athlete, ridiculous speed for a safety; Gil Brandt likes him better than Shamarko Thomas (Mel Kiper's best available). Rangy athlete, can help big time on special teams. Can move around really well, lots of plays behind line of scrimmage.
mrags Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 ESPN saying rough start. Almost getting kicked out of school. But turned it around and model guy since.
Wayne Cubed Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Great pick. Looks like the only reason he dropped to the 4th round is because of some off the field issues.
2020 Our Year For Sure Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Mayock said he woulda gone higher if not for the off the field stuff, whatever that was. Seems like we're infusing the defense with attitude

jtf1444 Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 One of Daniel Jeremiah's on the NFL networks favourite picks, Sounds like a good player!
akm0404 Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 I love that we actually pick defensive players that have character issues. News flash: being a little bit savage is better than having a defense filled with high motor character guys.
Ramius Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Another pick thats tough to argue with. Like NoSaint said, its quite obvious pettine wants a particular type of player and attitude for his defense, and its been reflected in these 2 defensive picks.
BuffaloBillsForever Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Good pick. This is a prototypical safety in a Rex Ryan/Pettine schemed defense.

News flash: being a little bit savage is better than having a defense filled with high motor character guys. I still don't get why being drunk or bad at school makes you a better defender. Ill take a guy doing charity work and a beast on the field without thinking twice. Problem is we've been spotty at on field evaluation. Hopefully that is what changes, as its all that matters.

He's had some off the field issues or he would have been drafted higher than this. He's a special teams player. He can close in on the football. He just has to watch his temper." -- Mike Mayock Name: Duke Williams College: Nevada Number: 5 Height: 5-11 Weight: 203 Position: SS Pos2: FS/CB/ST 40 Low: 4.40 40 Time: 4.48 40 High: 4.57 Edited April 27, 2013 by Screwball
QCity Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 NFL Network quotes "tough hitter will take your head off" "had multiple off-field issues - reason for his drop" "can't believe he wasn't invited to Senior Bowl" "heard multiple teams were targeting him this round, good pick by Buffalo" It seems like everyone though it was a very solid pick.
Boludo Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 i love that as an organization the bills are finally moving past the whole marv levy CHARACTER organizational philosophy and actually trying to draft good football players instead of model citizens now
SWVABillsFan Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 I know they needed a saftey at some point; but, a TE and an OL are more pressing needs.
