NoSaint Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 (edited) Just say No to RB. Make the playoffs before you make luxury picks. Getting a talent like lattimore in the 5th isn't a luxury. Especially with a 30+ back coming off multiple seasons with injury. A 5th rounder is essentially priority UDFA (anything after 4 your not counting on) not a guy filling a starting hole- this might've been a serious player for the fifth, and it makes sense a smart, successful organization would take him. mrags Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Don't know about that. You have to pick the right players. Dick Jauron seemed to be a great guy, a good defensive coordinator, and a terrible judge of talent and head coach. ok. I was exaggerating a little there. You get my point tho. And Jacobs. They don't need Luxury picks.
jjmac Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Damn. Just a few picks ahead of us. Oh well. No biggie. I still want Gillislee. with as many picks as they had, its hard not to have a good draft. Even Dick Juron and Chan Gailey would have a good draft with this many possibilities to get better. Yeah, but Donahoe would have mucked it up.
PastaJoe Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 it won't be a luxury when FJ goes down in week 1 because he's got dust for knees. So then you pick up a free agent to spell Spiller and Choice. Spiller should be on the field for most plays anyways. RB is the easiest position to fill. I remember some undrafted free agent, what's his name? Oh yeah, Arian Foster.

PastaJoe Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 And I can name 4,834 UDFA RBs who sucked. Along with plenty of drafted RBs, including 1st rounders. So you use your draft picks to fill needs, and get the RBs in free agency.

Gore and Jacobs are on the downswing. Lattimore will probably be useless for most of 2013 but have a chance to contribute beyond that. However as I've said, if he's injury-prone in college...

It amazes me when people think that there's an "Arian Foster" type guy just popping out of no where every single year. At every position. Later in the draft, maybe we should take the next HOF (ala, Tom Brady) in round 6. It's obvious that he's there in the 6th round.
DrDawkinstein Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Would LOVE the pick. Jackson is running on borrowed time and Choice isnt very good. Having him ready as our new 1-2 punch would be great. Would have loved him in the 4th even.
Doc Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 my Sarcasm font broke again there. I'm with you bud. My bad.
PastaJoe Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Remind me what round Fred Jackson, the guy you all want a replacement for, was drafted in.
mrags Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Remind me what round Fred Jackson, the guy you all want a replacement for, was drafted in. remind me if what round CJ Spiller or Thurman Thomas, or Barry Sanders, or Jim Brown, or Adrian Peterson, or Marshawn Lynch, or Tony Dorsett, or Bo Jackson, or OJ Simpson, or Marshall Faulk, or Edgerrin James, or Ladanian Tomlinson, or Eddie George, or Steven Jackson were drafted in??? We can do this all day man. In the end, a good football player is a good football player. Doesn't matter where they are drafted. Your bringing up guys that have been UDFAs. That's fine. You can find them. Your right. But that's besides the point. Fred Jackson is getting REALLY OLD for a RB in this league. Is coming off 3 straight seasons where he has been decimated by injuries. And Lattimore, if rehab works out, could be a VERY GOOD player. It's all a crapshoot. There's no guarantee he recovers fully. But then again, there's no guarantee that both Freddy and CJ don't both break their legs in week 1 and were stick with Choice and Dickerson all season. Just saying.
PastaJoe Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Teams with good QBs and lines can win with any halfway decent RB, or RB by committee. See New England, Green Bay, or Denver as examples. Great RBs don't win without the rest. See Sanders, Simpson, or Peterson.

Great RBs don't win without the rest. See Sanders, Simpson, or Peterson. or you could see Preist Holmes with Baltimore and his horrible QB, or Bettis when Raplisberger was young, Faulk in STL, the fact that Tom Brady and his Pasties haven't win a Superbowl since Corey Dillon, Elway never win one without Terrell Davis. Again, we can go on all day man. Your missing the point. The point is that all of the guys that I've mentioned and you've mentioned, are good Running Backs. It doesn't matter where they are drafted or if at all. In the end, they are all good. Lattimore is good. He would have been worth the risk. But it's all pointless now since he was already drafted almost 2 rounds ago.

PastaJoe Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 I find you and your football commentary EXTREMELY ANNOYING. You can't handle the truth. My point has been that as bad as the Bills have been, they need players that can play this year. If and when they need another RB, there will be plenty to choose from.
mrags Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 You can't handle the truth. My point has been that as bad as the Bills have been, they need players that can play this year. If and when they need another RB, there will be plenty to choose from. our points are: the Bills have been bad for so long and with a new coaching staff, a whole new attitude. It doesn't really mean we need to be good this season. That we need to create starters this season. We are rebuilding. If we manage to be good enough to make a play for the playoffs, then bonus for us. We have been bad for so long, we can't afford to turn down the possible best player in the draft available in rounds 4,5,6. If it wasnt for his injury, he would have been a 1st or 2nd round pick. Let me ask you this question, if you had Payton Manning, or Tom Brady on your roster, and you had a chance to take the best QB in the draft would you take them? Yeah, they don't necessarily need one this year, but the QBs they have are over 35. It's only a matter of time before they will need a new one. Similar to the Steelers and Giants both taking QBs this draft.
