Thailog80
Im reading on KFFL that NE signed Chris Redmond and Jake Schifino to future contracts and no details were available. How does that work?

How does that work? 199723[/snapback] I place the occasional future contract with my butcher for pork bellies, to make cracklings. P.S. Pork bellies are not pork stomachs. eSJayDee
I would guess that since their 2004 season isn't over yet (playoffs), it meant they signed them for 2005. Maybe it would give other non-playoff teams too much of an advantage filling up next year's roster ahead of playoff teams.
nodnarb
good question. i think this might be tied to the "patriots exception" clause, which also allows for offensive holding as long as it's cleverly applied.
clumping platelets
Late in the season, teams can sign players to futures contracts. It is basically a deal that starts the following season.
