BRH Posted January 9, 2005 Author Posted January 9, 2005 It is about time Wilpon is opening up the bank account. 199446 And for a guy in his prime, no less.
njsue Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 Fred Wilpon is a cheap skate. Guess the met fan no shows are getting to the moths in his wallet.
Pete Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 Fred Wilpon is a cheap skate. Guess the met fan no shows are getting to the moths in his wallet. 199449 Umm last year the Mets had the 4th highest payroll in MLB with $98 million
njsue Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 What did that so called payroll get them. No where. Just a bunch of old players past there prime. Especially on the pitching staff. Last place in the division does not attract much revenue.
BRH Posted January 9, 2005 Author Posted January 9, 2005 It's not so much that Wilpon is spending -- he's always spent. It's that he finally has a GM who recognizes that what you spend it ON is at least as important as how much you spend. In a couple of years I wonder if the Yankees will regret trading for Randy Johnson instead of signing Beltran.
njsue Posted January 9, 2005 Posted January 9, 2005 Pitching is far more important than a center fielder at this time. Bernie Williams still has it.
