I just booked my hotel on priceline naming my own price @ 133 a night for the Westin Convention Center Pittsburgh. It's already 260 a night on Hotels.com so hurry up if your a Notre Dame freak like me.

Hofbraugh (sp) House on the South Side is a great German food and beer restaurant.

 

Caladha (sp) Irish bar and restaurant.

 

LaTavola is a great Italian place on Mt. Washington. FYI its BYOB.

 

Downtown has Nola, an interesting New Orleans themed resturant.

 

Permanti Brothers.

 

Tons of bars in the Strip District, North Shore and South Side. Basically, if you look closely, there are bars everywhere.

 

Downtown has the following Steakhouses: Mortons, Ruth Chris, Hyde Park, Capital Grille (my fav) and several other restaurants have great steak as well. (i.e. Pittsburgh Steak Company on the South Side)

been ages since I've been there but I remember having a great time at a Place called Blue Lou's and Mario's next door. I was there for a Pirate's game and I believe they were near by.
