boyst Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Hoagie from the NY'er and midwestern in me. Sub for the midwesterner. And here most peopel call them sandwiches
Keukasmallies Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Or as a friend calls them, "....a samwidge."
mrags Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Sub. Buffalo, NY actually it could be Sub or Hoagie. Depends on what is on it. Sub = Lettuce, Tomato, Onion (Raw) Hoagie = Pepper and Onions (Grilled)
Beerball Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Is It a Hoagie? Or a Sub? A Grinder? Or a Torpedo? .... Perhaps a Hero. Yes, it is.
Gugny Posted April 12, 2013 Author Posted April 12, 2013 actually it could be Sub or Hoagie. Depends on what is on it. Sub = Lettuce, Tomato, Onion (Raw) Hoagie = Pepper and Onions (Grilled) Interesting. So is heat/cooking the differentiator? If I get an Italian Mixed with raw lettuce, tomato and onion ... it would be a sub. I get the grilled peppers and onions thing. But what about a hot meatball, sausage or chicken parm sub? I call those "hot subs."
mrags Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I would also call those hot subs. Like a steak and cheese for example. You can get a steal and cheese sub with lettuce, onion, tomato or a hoagie with grilled peppers and onions.
The Poojer Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 let's not forget bombers...bomber house in fredoina was awesome...although if i am not mistaken they sold them as grinders, hoagies, subs et al....
shrader Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Now that I think about it, I'm not really sure which term they use out here in Boston. I know I've seen "sub" at a few places, but I don't know how widespread that is.
Buftex Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 .... Perhaps a Hero. Ain't noting but a sandwhich...

Just Jack Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Sub - central NY Though depending on where I am, I'll see what the menu calls it before placing my order.
