i've listened to him speak on talk radio (sirius NFL channel has him on weekly) and i honestly like him. he's engaging and doesn't shy away from tough questions. he's a good motivator and the players probably like him.

but that's where it ends, in my opinion. he can't manage the clock -- had to hire a "clock management specialist" for his staff. he doesn't seem to ever look like he knows what is going on out on the field. what was that b.s. w/ his running backs coach on the sideline last night? that's embarrassing. a HC can't lose his cool like that. and when the defense had 10 players on the field for two consecutive plays? he didn't seem to have a clue.

i don't know...i've just seen numerous examples of stuff like this over the past several years and i think most observers would agree that the jets have underachieved during that time.

Herm makes a lot of questionable game decisions. He goes for 2 way too early (he's done it before last weeks game), he's been involved in some clock mgt. meltdowns (see Baltimore game) and I hope he coaches another decade in our division, because in the AFC East, he's the weakest link.

I completely agree. Madden even brought it up last night - all the fans want to kill their OC, but ultimately the HC is responsible.

Their coaching staff singlehandily blew the Ravens game this year. A HB option pass when you're up 14-0 against a team with no offense. Then they burn their final time out near the goaline with 8 seconds left.

Like you said - good motivator, but definitely not the sharpest knife in the drawer, and not a real good X's & O's guy either.

I was making the assumption last night that the argument between Edwards and the Running Backs coach was about him pulling Martin and putting in Jordan. Anyone hear what went on? I thought Edwards was going to level him.

Herm doesn't do a damn thing on this team, except give motivational speeches after bad loses. Because he is responsible for none of the play-calling, he gets none of the heat when things go bad. The NY press has been giving him a free ride for four years.
