Athletes in the NFL today are very self centered and do everything in their power to get an edge on the competition. They pump steroids, growth hormones and other various banned substances. Everything they do is to make a bigger pay day for themselves. It is difficult to find a team that truly embraces the "I play for my brother's and teammate's" frame of mind.

This article says it all about why the Bills had so much success in the 90's. Working for each other and not the individual were what made those teams so good. Granted, they had a ton of talent but there were a number of individuals that stepped up and played beyond their talent level. Think about it. What made the Pat's championship teams so good? Team above individual. If you are going to be a "Me first" guy then you are not going to play for the Patriots. Hopefully this can be a mindset that the Bills can adopt again.

I hope that Marrone can take his belief's and instill it upon these guys. I think that the roster is young enough and the jaded players have been jettisoned. This should truly be a fresh start for this team.

Don't let me down Doug. My heart can't take it anymore.

I gotta say, I was really impressed when I heard Marrone's approach with these guys. As I recall, he told them that they were to commit to the team, that they were to go out and play for each other. You can see he's trying to build comraderie, accountability - and accountability works best when the players aren't afraid of getting chewed out, but rather when they're afraid of letting each other down - and he's trying to get every player to have the same set of goals. It's all about winning a Championship - which is also a nice, fresh new mindset, since the last few coaches acted as though the Bills were a handicapped team that would consider just making the playoffs a success, which translated to 7-9 being "close". This new staff is going to make us all very happy to be Bills fans again!

It's all part of what's known as "football character."

I'll spare the vets around here another speech from my soapbox.

GO BILLS!!!
