ChevyVanMiller Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 (edited) Roy Clark playing "Malaguena" on the old Odd Couple show. How did he possibly do that without breaking a string on his Martin guitar? Edited April 4, 2013 by ChevyVanMiller
The Poojer Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 it always blew my mind how both he and charo were such incredible classical guitarists but you'd never really know it from their public persona
Buftex Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Roy Clark was a really elite guitar player... there was really not a lot of places, particularly in those days, for guys like him to earn money, just being a great guitar player...so they did things like "Hee-Haw" becasue it was steady paycheck. I suppose it had its' perks, like hanging around backstage with the ladies of the All-star Jugs Band, or getting a check-up from Nurse Goodbody.
PromoTheRobot Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 (edited) http://www.guitaralive.org/home.html The classical music station I work with carries this program. Speaking of Charo, same selection for comparison. From 2008. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfVf7N8CJEA PTR Edited April 4, 2013 by PromoTheRobot
Chef Jim Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Ok Prince just fell to #12 behind Roy Clark and Charo.
ExiledInIllinois Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Ok Prince just fell to #12 behind Roy Clark and Charo. #11... Screw Charo... Now you are coming to your senses! :-) I was gonna pile on a few days ago w/Roy Clark, Buck Owens (heck even Dwight Yoakum w/Owens' "Bakersfield Sound"), Chet Atkins, Mark Knopfler in the other thread Jim... But Tom was doing a good job beating you down! ;-) :-P Heck... That is a quick 4/10 right there! :-P Then I was watching an old rerun of WKRP on Antenna TV and Hoyt Axton was on... Obviously nowhere near in the top ten but, reading his Wiki entry... I never knew his mother co-wrote Elvis' first hit: Heartbreak Hotel.
