26CornerBlitz Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 (edited) @JasonLaCanfora Free agent DT Alan Branch is visiting the Bills today. Sounds like Buffalo is pretty interested in getting something done Edited April 2, 2013 by 26CornerBlitz
Kirby Jackson Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 (edited) I remember him being a good prospect coming out of Michigan. Not sure what type of pro that he has been, but depth never hurt. Edited April 2, 2013 by Kirby Jackson
mrags Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Based on this pic and his size, he looks like a 3-4 DT to me. (I know nothing about him so excuse my obvious to other comments). http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Branch#mw-mf-search
The Big Cat Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Also based on his Wikipedia page: he did very well in Seattle over the last two years!!!!!!!!!
Buftex Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 He has been a very solid interior lineman in the NFL, if not spectacular. I know some Seahawks fans will be disappointed to see him sign elsewhere. What I like best about his stat line, in 7 years in the NFL, he has played in 15 or 16 games each season....except his second, in Arizona where he only saw action in 4 games. http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/10477/alan-branch
BADOLBILZ Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 @JasonLaCanfora Free agent DT Alan Branch is visiting the Bills today. Sounds like Buffalo is pretty interested in getting something done He is a large wingspan "long" player who would seem like a good fit as a 2-gap 3-4 DE.
BillsGuyInMalta Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 (edited) Branch did start for two straight seasons on one of the NFL's best defenses over that span. He was regarded as an underachiever with Arizona but really developed into a solid force on the D-Line with Seattle. Would be a welcome addition here. Edited April 2, 2013 by BillsGuyInBallstonSpa
GG Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 IIRC, he was on the short list of many people here in the draft when Bills had a need for DTs.
pimp 2 Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Maybe the Troup experiment has run its course...I'm surprised the Bills hasn't shown interest in Pouha (sp?) after being released from the Jets given his experience in Pettine's defensive scheme.
JPS Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 FWIW, on Sirius NFL, Tim Ryan singled out Alan Branch as a DT worth signing. Not a Warren Sapp style penetrator, but more of a plugger. Paraphrasing Tim Ryan, not my assessment.

YeAh it def sounds like troup is done. Pouha is old I believe mid 30s? Branch would be a good signing and would give us a NT
Buftex Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Branch is listed as a #2 on a list of 'Big Men Bargains" on something I read a week or so ago.

atlbillsfan1975 Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 This would be a nice pick up. Should not cost a lot is only 28 and provides depth/rotation at a key spot. Sounds like a perfect back up for K Williams and can spell him during the games with out a huge drop off in production.
thebandit27 Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 This would be a solid value pickup...a guy that can give them snaps at 34 end or 43 tackle...big asset. I doubt it would take a chunk of cash to sign him either.

Branch would be a good signing and would give us a NT i don't know about that... they may not trust Troup to be healthy, but as the only current good fit as a 3-4 NT, they may keep him at least through training camp, with a chance to beat Branch if healthy or someone gets hurt. Esp. with KW and his achilles problems.
BillsGuyInMalta Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Wow...everyone actually...likes...this idea? We need a dissenter and we need one fast or else The Wall will implode.
