San Jose Bills Fan
Like Jack Pardee, another very significant contributor to football. Like Jack Pardee, he died of cancer in his 70s. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/04/02/former-patriots-coach-chuck-fairbanks-dies/
Ennjay
IIRC, he was the first NFL coach to go with the 3-4 as his primary defense.

San Jose Bills Fan
One of numerous articles which discuss the Fairbanks-Bullough (yes, THAT Bullough) 3-4 Defense: http://www.milehighreport.com/2008/5/7/481970/mhr-university-modern-3-
bbb
IIRC, he was the first NFL coach to go with the 3-4 as his primary defense. Yeah, I forgot about that. They might have even called it the Oklahoma defense. Or else my mind is playing tricks on me...........it's so weird how your perception of age is at different stages in your life. When he coached OU, esp. in that game of the century vs. Nebraska, he was still in his 30s yet to me he seemed like an old guy. (As I was preteen)
