26CornerBlitz Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 (edited) @rolandsmartin Former Houston Cougars and Houston Oilers head coach Jack Pardee has died. Was a very nice man; well-respected by his players. RIP, Jack Edited April 1, 2013 by 26CornerBlitz
jaybee Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 He was a good player too. I had his card back in the 60's when he played LB for the L.A. Rams. Rams were my team back in those days. Helluva football career. I believe he coached in the USFL too and he made the college hall of fame back in the 80's. Football lost a good man today. jb

sullim4 Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 All I remember about the guy was that he was the Oilers head coach when Buddy Ryan punched Kevin Gilbride during that one game against the Jets.
26CornerBlitz Posted April 2, 2013 Author Posted April 2, 2013 All I remember about the guy was that he was the Oilers head coach when Buddy Ryan punched Kevin Gilbride during that one game against the Jets. One of the funniest sideline incidents I've ever seen.
San Jose Bills Fan Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 All I remember about the guy was that he was the Oilers head coach when Buddy Ryan punched Kevin Gilbride during that one game against the Jets. And of course he was the Oilers head coach when we defeated them in the Greatest Comeback in NFL History.
San Jose Bills Fan Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Just remembered that Pardee was Jim Kelly's coach with the USFL Houston Gamblers.
26CornerBlitz Posted April 2, 2013 Author Posted April 2, 2013 Just remembered that Pardee was Jim Kelly's coach with the USFL Houston Gamblers. Now that was a fun team to watch in that run and shoot offense.
CowgirlsFan Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Classy guy even if he played against or coached aganist my Cowboys!
ExWNYer Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 All I remember about the guy was that he was the Oilers head coach when Buddy Ryan punched Kevin Gilbride during that one game against the Jets. He was also the predecessor to Joe Gibbs in Washington, guiding the team to three consecutive 3rd place finishes and an overall record of 24-24. R.I.P.
bbb Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 He also played on George Allen's Over the Hill Gang teams with the Redskins..........It must have been pointed out during the Comeback game era, but I would think Marv must have been on the coaching staff when he played. I wonder why the Over the Hill idea worked for Allen, but not for the Dan Snyder Redskins of Bruce, Deion, etc.
BillsWatch Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Good bye Jack. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/21989880/former-nfl-coach-texas-am-star-jack-pardee-dies-at-76
