I just posted the same thing in another thread. I think Eifert is a real possibility, and would probably want him more than Patterson.

Eifert at 8? Really? He's not a game changer. Chandler is open when he's covered too. Remember Nix said game changers go in top 10 after he took Spiller. Eifert is a good player, but a game changer? Is he stretching the field? Is he causing mismatches? He's not Gronk-like or Hernandez. And they weren't top 10 picks. If they pick an offensive player at 8 it's QB, LT or an athletic talent like Patterson. But based on Nix's philosophy of a history of production, Tavon Austin is the WR at 8.

Well Vernon Davis was drafted with the 6th overall pick the year he was drafted so definitely think its possible

Davis is an athletic freak. Eifert is not. Big difference.

A TE would have to be pretty special to even be considered taking in the top ten

Patterson is a playmaker that probably isn't as polished of a WR as AJ Green or Julio Jones were when they came out but would fill a big need for this team

At this point, if Geno or Barkley are not there at #8, this team should trade down and get more picks for this year and next year. If we can change our 6 picks into 10 picks with the new picks in the 2nd-3rd rounds, it would help rebuild this team quickly. Kolb is definitely a serviceable QB who knows the WC offense and Bills will not be pressured to pick a Nassib or Manuel at the #8 spot. They can let this draft come to them.

There are draft experts that say that Eifert can go as high as the 13th overall pick which is only 5 picks after ours because i lot of them think he is the most physically gifted and best tight end to come out in a while.

Trading back would be ideal if we can find a partner. Eifert or Ertz would be a nice pickup. Patterson's cuts are unreal. I could see us getting Patterson and then Ertz, but that would be neglecting the QB.

A smurf slot receiver? Can't see it, myself...

Put it this way: IMO, Eifert at 8 and the best WR available at 41 or 71 is going to be a better combination than Patterson at 8 and the best TE at 41 or 71.

There are going to be very good Wr at 41. The TE class is good, too, but I stand by the statement.

There's always the VALUE argument to consider - especially with Buffalo - with the first pick, and that's amplified with a pick in the top 10. The argument is certain positions cost a ton to sign, or resign - CB, DE, QB, and LT are the top 4. If you pay a top flight FA in any of these catagories, you're paying more than 10 million a year.

Now, if you get a rookie - now more than ever, with the salary cap - at any of these positions and have a 5 year initial contract, you're likely paying them in the neighborhood of 2 million a year over the first, rookie contract. That means, even if you re-sign them to another 5 year deal worth 15 million a year, OVER THE LIFE OF THE 10 YEARS YOU HAVE THAT PLAYER YOU'RE ONLY PAYING THEM A LITTLE OVER 8 MILLION A YEAR. For a top talent at any of those positions - but especially DE and QB, that is a bargain.

That is why picking a QB, LT, or DE with the first pick is so smart for a team like Buffalo, who can't usually attract the top talents without overpaying, IF there is a player at any of those positions that is worthy of that high a pick.

Now, we don't know if Buffalo has a QB rated high enough to pick at 8, but I'm sure they have a few LT's rated that high, and I wouldn't be surprised if they also didn't have a few DE's, and at least one CB.

I just can't see them passing on those value talents for a TE - at 8. And, as far as WR goes, I actually like Patterson's teammate, Hunter, BETTER as a WR in this draft. When I watch the video of Tennessee, Hunter sticks out as a WR that will show up more consistently - and he's taller, and very, very close to being just as fast.

Even though we have just signed Kolb I think we will draft a guy in the first two rounds......

I totally agree.
