why drive 2000 miles?

I dont regret it that is for sure. I got to see Denver, Southern Utah and just the scenery in the southwest is stunning. Rental car was only $300 compared to the flight which was $500.

Pretty part of the country for sure.

I went that way when I drove out there to move there. Straight across the county to Denver. Took me 24.5 hours to the minute straight shot. Stayed 2 days in Denver with a buddy and went on to Vegas. Some of the spots in Utah were definitely very "Hills have Eyes"ish but it was a very nice ride. Nebraska absolutely sucked though. Felt like it went in forever and was just boring and flat as hell.

Hope you went to Freemont, Blue Man Group, and saw the Bellagio Fountains and all the other cool strip shows. It's always a must for me when I go back and visit.

How about gas/hotel?

I'm not questioning the decision to drive (i personally love long road trips), but would rarely see it as a means of saving money.

Vegas is the ultimate Man's Fantasy World....gorgeous women everywhere, gambling, sportsbooks, the most liberal drinking laws anywhere. Such a fun city and it's not just for the early twenty Spring Break crowd. I think im gonna be going there to party until I'm in my 60's

It all cost $600 total between the 3 people. When you divide it by 3 it wasnt bad and the rest of our money was spent in Vegas. Awesome trip and plan to go back next year or maybe in a few years. Next year I want to go to Arizona.

Where did you stay and what did you do while you were there?

If I never go to Las Vegas again I would be happy. Too many clueless, uneducated people attracted to the bright lights marveling at replicas of the Eiffel tower, fountains, pirate shows, and tigers all for the purpose of getting you to gamble. It's all fake.

I agree with you on this, wasn't impressed. When you don't drink or gamble much, it just gets annoying when everytime you turn around you have someone trying to scam you into a time share or some other trip deal to see a "free show"

Can't say while I was there that the woman were any more impressive then anywhere else I have been too.

I enjoyed the the drive from Vegas to the Grand Canyon and Arizona alot more

Agreed. When I was in Vegas covering CES last year, three of us rented a Mustang convertible and drove to the Grand Canyon from the Strip. It was a pretty awesome experience. :)

Vegas itself is ok -- but since every conference seems to be there, it gets a bit old after awhile. The people watching is interesting though - you'll see people in formal wear walking next to "people of WalMart."

thats true, I enjoyed trying to pick out guys that you know are their with an "Escort"

I did the drive one day from the Strip to the Grand Canyon in a Jeep liberty, stayed the night at the grand Canyon, then drove the next day to Flagstaff Arizona for a few days. It was nice being somewhere in November, wearing shorts and still feeling hot.........

I love the Southwest, it's a great region for a road trip. We drove from Sedona to Vegas a few years ago and way back I drove from Del Rio to Sacramento; tons to see along that trip.

Just got back from an EPIC March Madness trip. For legal reasons, there will be no stories told here.

While I can understand and respect those who have no use for Vegas, I'll forever think that's just too bad because the city is a freaking blast. All day and all night...smoking, drinking, three-card poker, slot machines, bouncing breasts, white tigers eating gay entertainers, fan dancers, ginormous people standing in line for hours to challenge an all-you-can-eat buffet, rooms with no clocks in them, pirate fights, blue-painted men making music with nothing more than PVC and a giant box of Cap'n Crunch, lobsters the size of your suitcase, and a whole host of old entertainers performing live when you were SURE they were dead for years.

Viva Las Vegas.
