26CornerBlitz Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 @RapSheet Whoa: Tuck Rule is changing. If the passer loses control going forward it's still INC. If he loses ball while tucking, it's a fumble. It's about damn time....long overdue. Raiders will agree I'm sure.
peterpan Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 You mean if the QB fumbles they are going to rule it a fumble? Its about time!
bbb Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Has it ever been called besides the Brady game? There was one play in the playoffs, can't remember which one now, that I and a lot of people thought it should have applied, but it wasn't called.
Haplo848 Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Has it ever been called besides the Brady game? There was one play in the playoffs, can't remember which one now, that I and a lot of people thought it should have applied, but it wasn't called. I've seen it called in many games. It's just never been on such a big stage or so obviously a fumble since Brady's tuck rule. I think we even benefited from it once this past year.
benderbender Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Brady only needed the tuck rule a couple of times, but at long as the refs are in his pocket, he'll be just fine.
San Jose Bills Fan Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 I've seen it called in many games. It's just never been on such a big stage or so obviously a fumble since Brady's tuck rule. I think we even benefited from it once this past year. Many? I'm thinking you're using that term loosely because I watch as much NFL as anyone and it doesn't come up more than 1-2 times per year. To the subject, this is just a rule change proposal. However I'm thinking it's gonna be approved. The most interesting aspect of the rule proposal is that it didn't come from the Competition Committee as the vast majority or proposals do. The proposed rule change came from the officials.
Green Lightning Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 So if they never had the stupid rule to begin with, factoring in cheating, the Patriots would have ....oh yeah...ZERO Superbowls.
Meathead Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 nfl referees announce in lieu of the tuck rule they are reinstating an option to use the 'just give it to them' rule when it would benefit the patriots
DrDawkinstein Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 It was just called this past season in a Bills game. I forget which one. But it was called in favor of the other team, not the Bills, obviously.

ESPN said it happened 3 times in one week this past season.
San Jose Bills Fan Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 ESPN said it happened 3 times in one week this past season. And how many times in the years previous? Also how many times did it happen in the other 16 weeks? Do you have some mean averages to dispute my sense of the frequency or were you just trying to be helpful?
johnnychemo Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 nfl referees announce in lieu of the tuck rule they are reinstating an option to use the 'just give it to them' rule when it would benefit the patriots Not reinstating, making it a point of emphasis!
bbb Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 ESPN said it happened 3 times in one week this past season. It got called no fumble those 3 times?
Talley56 Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Has it ever been called besides the Brady game? There was one play in the playoffs, can't remember which one now, that I and a lot of people thought it should have applied, but it wasn't called. I believe it was called against us in a game vs the Bengals a couple of years back. Dalton lost the ball, we recovered, but it was ruled an incompletion.
26CornerBlitz Posted March 18, 2013 Author Posted March 18, 2013 How Krafty of you: @MMehtaNYDN Patriots owner Robert Kraft jokes he might abstain from Tuck Rule vote: "I love the Tuck Rule and forever will."
Kellyto83TD Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 How Krafty of you: @MMehtaNYDN Patriots owner Robert Kraft jokes he might abstain from Tuck Rule vote: "I love the Tuck Rule and forever will." Of course he would... he's a dick.
SageAgainstTheMachine Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Good. Next up should be this nonsense about the "empty hand". Either the QB's arm propels the ball forward or it doesn't.
Mr. WEO Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 And how many times in the years previous? Also how many times did it happen in the other 16 weeks? Do you have some mean averages to dispute my sense of the frequency or were you just trying to be helpful? My car ride wasn't that long. Anyway, you disputed "many" by saying only happens 1-2 times a season. I was offering that it happened 3 times in one week. It's not a dispute, really. I assumed you already had the answer those questions you are asking me when you concluded it only happened 1-2 times a season.
